Give me your definition and which of the following fighters do you think casuals know. Nonito Donaire Andre Berto Sergio Martinez Paul Williams Tyson Fury Ivan Calderon Hozumi Hasegawa
well, i was at a bar for the fight, and heard people refer to the klits as "ummm, those big russian guys"
Casual fan is usually someone who only know the superstars of the sport. The Mayweathers, Pacquaios, DLH's. Those are the only fighters they watch. They probably had no clue who Erik Morales was last night just because he was on the undercard. They lack basic fundamental rudimentary boxing knowledge. They don't know things like the different weight classes, promotional companies, what it means to roll a punch, showing angles, timing. I find it very frustrating watching a fight with them because they say a lot of stupid **** in ignorance. Of the fighters above, they may know Berto, P-Will and maybe Martinez.
I'm willing to bet of the people who watched Mayweather-Ortiz yesterday only 10% had seen Victor fight before.
I've only been watching since 2008 and I feel like I don't know **** but compared to some people I'm a walking Boxing bible.
Something funny I heard at the theater yesterday during the Morales fight was, "Aww, he should have hit him on the head!!" After the slo-mo showed Morales hitting Cano with a body shot.
Theater was packed. I'd say about 70-30 in Floyd's favor. Everybody was enthusiastic throughout the entire fight. When Victor head butted Floyd, everybody went crazy. We were all pissed except for the Victor fans. I even heard one of the Victor fans say behind me, "Wait, isn't that legal?" When Mayweather KO'd Victor, everybody started cheering.
