How do you define the term "pure boxer" and "boxer puncher"?

It's a style which means that's what they use to win. Boxer relies on boxing skills to win. Boxer-puncher can also box but relies on his punching ability (not necessarily power) to win. Floyd is a good example of a pure boxer, was a boxer puncher. Pacquiao is definitely a boxer-puncher now, was a brawler/slugger.

I really wouldn't consider Lopez, Marquez, Arguello, or Curry to be "pure boxers", if that's who you're referring to. I think they are a prime example of a good boxer puncher. To me I think boxer punchers are the most well rounded style because of the fact that they can use the fundamental skills like that of a pure boxer and mix it up with that of a slugger. They have the ability to outbox the opponent much like pure boxer but are also have power.

IMO Ward can't be a boxer-puncher since he got no-power!

Ward is actually more of a Boxer/Swarmer hybrid. Has good outside game that isn't reliant on punching power, but he can clinch and maul up close.

My defenition of a pure boxer\ boxer is a fighter who can transition his offense from defense...he\she usually relies on ring smarts to set up their body of work from pivotal postions..They realy on on skills instead of brute power...Boxer\Pure boxer usually takes over a fight with a solid jab and can pick apart his foe..usually enrouting them to a wide UD or a TKO from an accumulation of shots!

He used to be. Now his a defensive fighter. The old Floyd would have stopped or at least seriously hurt Mosley.
Pacman vs Mayweather is a perfect fight. Manny is all about offense. Hes one of the best offensive fighters. Mayweather on the other hand is the perfect defensive fighter.

That's why the idiots who criticize Pac for fighting a "tailor-made" Hatton need to shut the **** up. If Hatton was "tailor-made" for Pac, then Pac was also "tailor-made" for Hatton since Pac lacks inside game.
