Especially the uppercut. If you've seen the sparring vids, you already know Margo's been working on that punch like crazy.

Dude, that uppercut is so ****ing slow, and half of the time it comes from a far. But then again, Cotto ins't too great on the defensive side, so mabe he will have some success with it.

Havent seen the sparring videos if you have a link that would be nice, I fully expect Cotto to prepair for that shot, as long as Cotto is digging hard shots to the body especially that left hook, Margarito will be forced to limit the out put of that shot or he will end up being stopped to the body.

cotto'z offense will be his defense in this fight. if he keeps that jab pumping and counter contantly then Margo wont be able to put together those devastating combonations. Cotto gets hit 3 times and lands one cheek shattering blow himself, thats his style sometimes

He'll deal with it, Cotto can box, slug and also move when needed. He doesn't have the best defense of course but it's still good enough for someone one-dimensional like Margarito. Still this might be a tough fight depending how Cotto performs and how affective Margarito's aggression turns out to be.

He is going to box his ears off with the jab, get in and out of range using angles and counter the slower Margo with straighter more accurate punches.

Could he get caught, yeah, but if he doesn't he is going to win by a wide UD.

Even if he gets caught, Margarito is not a one punch KO artist, he breaks opponents down by landing a lot. Also Cotto has a pretty good chin, not completely glass as some claim.

    :deal

Cotto's jab is very underrated IMO. He was matching jabs with fast handed Mosley and Judah.

That question work both ways . . . how do you expect Marg to deal with Cotto's offensive tool?

Yeah yeah yeah . . . uppercut. :D What if Marg got seriously hurt first and he has no chance to use his uppercut?

Be real . . . stop asking stupid questions.

:rofl  :rofl  :rofl  :rofl

That is when I became a complete believer. His timing is very good too, he is able to deal with faster fighters by timing them

Yeah Margo is more of an accumulation puncher but that doesn't mean he can't rock him and get a stoppage, I think it is unlikely though.

Margo is limited man and when he faces an elite fighter like Cotto it will be apparent from the openeing bell. He won't land those wide looping shots because first they are slow as hell and second he has to set his feet in order to get off. If Cotto uses movement he will beat Margo with ease with his jab, more accurate punches, his superior speed and footwork.

i think a lot of people are underestimating the fighter cotto has become over the last few years. the speed difference is going to be the main factor, margarito is painfully slow and cotto has become very quick and thus also even more powerful :thumbsup

I'm pretty sure Cotto will dish out his fair share of pain for master splinter to re-think just bull rushing in with his tornando assault tatics.:smoke

With is jab and body work and by using movement. If he does that, Margarito won't have the strength and stamina to keep throwing effectively the uppercut in the second half of the fight....Cotto ain't no Golden Johnsson....
