More likely to get Frampton v one of these guys. Rigo would school the very solid but fairly basic LSC. LSC management wont want to lose their Golden Goose. Cant see him being allowed to fight Rigo. Actually better chance of Frampton v Rigo. Remember Gary Hyde, Rigos manager is Irish.
But he shown in the past, to be susceptible to some forms of pressure, I'm not saying LSC will beat him but, Rigo's chin may definitely get tested, Santa Cruz has an very sturdy Mexican chin and may be able to walk through Rigo's counters more effectively than others.
Santa Cruz isn't anywhere near Rigo's level and has almost no chance to win. I see him being unable to touch Rigo, who lowers Santa Cruz' punch output and wins every single round. If Santa Cruz tries to walk through Rigo's counters like some are suggesting, he's getting knocked out. The difference in quality is just that big from what I've seen. As for the fight getting made, it's nice to see Santa Cruz appear that he wants the fight, but I doubt that his management is keen to make it happen. It looks like they would rather pretend and lie to themselves that the Rigo fight isn't marketable enough, despite Rigo being the biggest name and the most accomplished and recognozed boxer is the division. If I'm correct, Rigo also earns more per fight than both Santa Cruz and Frampton, but it seems that they would rather keep having minor fights than actually try to establish themselves and risk losing their paper belts.
Santa Cruz has grown on me a lot. He is like a more refined Margarito. He brings it. I think it is a good match up. At 5'7, he will tower over the 5'3 Rigondeaux. Judges are more friendly towards high volume pressure fighters, then they are towards slick, low volume technical boxers. Rigondeaux will have footwork, defense, and one shot power in his favor. Donaire was the first guy that Rigondeaux didn't put on the canvas, and that is likely because Donaire was a welterweight in the ring. You see a lot of guys go down from the shot that breaks their facial bones. Santa Cruz's footwork doesn't seem much better than Marroquin's or Cordoba's either. The only question marks will be if Santa Cruz can take Rigondeaux's power, and whether the judges will screw Rigs on the cards if it goes the distance.
Yes because Santa Cruz said he will fight Rigo, his promoters will jump all over that fight and it guarantees it will get done by the end of the year atsch I'm not sure you understand how boxing as a business works.
Hes prmoters really dont have to jump all over it. Cruz says he wants him so hes gonna get him. Oscar didnt want Canelo to fight Trout or Lara but Canelo told Oscar im going to fight them so oscar got it done. its very simple
Rigo is not exactly a young guy anymore and he doesn't fight enough. Pretty even fight. LSC is constant pressure, Rigo is probably the best counter puncher and defensive boxer right now. I'll go with Rigo.
I agree. I personally think Rigo is the best boxer I've seen for quite a while. He also has power. I like LSC, but he'll be beaten badly.
Leo Santa Cruz is a great young fighter, and has the total package (speed, power, technique, cardio, heart, and brains) However, HE DOES NOT want to see Rigo! His technical destruction of Donaire was a thing of beauty. The ONLY thing I see that Leo has going for him is his height (5’7") vs. Rigo (5’4" which is being generous). I think at this stage in Leo’s career this is a dangerous fight that could ruin him (just like it did to Donaire).
glad santa cruz stepped up and called him out. both are favorites of mine. there's no room for guys like frampton using b.s excuses to avoid top competition. he's 2nd tier to santa cruz and rigondeaux. i'm leaning towards rigondeaux on this match up...but i won't be surprised if santa cruz wins.
