Win, or lose against Dawson, as long as he looks somewhat competitive, would you want him to try his hand at cruiserweight? I mean, yeah, the dudes hit hard as FUQQ up there, but Hopkins' skill level is LIGHT YEARS beyond guys like Huck, and Lebedev. . . And he would enjoy a pretty big speed edge he hasn't really enjoyed in a while. . . He would rank pretty high up on the list of ATG's if he managed to snag a title from a legitimate CW belt-holder (ESPECIALLY, if he traveled to their backyard and snatched it up!). . . Here are the options: Rematch with Tarver (assuming he gets by Kayode). . . Back story there. . . Tarver would probably want a chance at redemption. . . He holds the IBO belt, so not quite as prestigious as the other alphabet soups. . Although I think they are just as legit cause they have an objective, computerized ranking system, but that's another thread... ALL PHILADELPHIA SHOWDOWN with Steve Cunningham. . . Just got his belts lifted up off him by Hernandez, and unless he comes back with a good win, nothing really at stake here. . . Go to Germany for a fight with Marco "CAP'N'HUCK" Huck. He holds the WBO belt. This might be the biggest money fight available for Pops. . . Also could be hte most dangerous, but most winnable at the same time. . . Also assuming he gets by Afolabi. Go to Russia to take on Lebedev. Probably some decent money here as well. . . At least a few million. . . Another very dangerous, but also very winnable fight. . . Lebedev is the "interim" WBA Champion. The dark horse of hte group, the incredible stretching man, GUILLERMO JONES! This dude came up from 147 pounds! He's a lot better than you might think. . . Low reward/high risk here for Popkins. . . Doubt he brings enough to the table. . And he's promoted by Don King. . . Go to Poland to fight Wlodarcyzk, the WBC champion. . . Not sure how popular he is in Poland, so I don't know if the money would be there. . . Very dangerous fight, and he's probably more skilled than Huck, and Lebedev. . .
NOTE: I did not include Hernandez because I just don't think he brings enough to the table financially. . . And Hopkins is smart, he knows how powerful, and skilled he is
*shrug* I love boxing like that. . . I like to throw ideas around. . . Plus I type 95 WPM, so it took me all of a few minutes. . . Probably took you longer to peck-type your response. I don't think he's going to lose that badly. . He won't allow it to happen. . If he feels he's getting schooled, and embarrassed (which he won't), he'll delve into his bag of dirty tricks, and fuqq Chad up with something. . . He simply won't allow Chad to work him over. . . He'll injure him first.
Really? You can't see him schooling a slow plodder like Huck? And we already know what he did to Tarver. . .
Huck is a big boy Did you see how Pascal was able to stun Hopkins before gassing Huck pretty much won a heavyweight title if Hopkins thinks he can clinch and wrestle a guy who could out wrestle and win on the inside with a hwt belt holder he would be in for a shock Hernandez would slap the **** out of him
Bernard fights top opponents from each division between 160 and 175, CW is too much. So we gat Dawson now and he's been chasing this one for quite some time, we gat Bute or Froch, we don't have Ward but we can always meet a good opponent at 170, 175 pounds.
I don't know. . . Never underestimate technique. . . Hopkins got stunned by Pascal because he didn't see the punches coming due to speed. . . Pascal has the speed of some WW's. . . And is still a hard puncher for 175. Hopkins probably walks around at an in shape 190 pounds. . . He would know how to fight heavy hitters. Maybe it's just wishful thinking. . . I really think he might try it out, though. . . I can see him doing it.
at his age i dont see it Huck would be able to take a Hopkins punch and Huck should be able to hurt Hopkins bad
I'm not sure I'd pick Hopkins over a single top 10 CW... 25 pounds of difference between LHW and CW, not your typical 4-7 pound jump.
Tarver had to drop from 220lbs after being in that Rocky film and lost well over 30lbs of muscle. Pascal never stopped anyone half decent at SMW and now he's a big hitter at LHW?
