And you realize he's never fought below the weight limit of 160 before, right? Not once... If we've learned something in recent years it's not to drain opponents or the majority of the viewing audience will dismiss the victory as irrelevant.

    The thing is:

GGG calling out Floyd at 154 = GGG satin the will to to 154 where Floyd is Man = not really s problem

Ward callin out GGG to fight at 168 is the reverse it would need GGG calling Floyd to come up 160

Tbh even that is not unreasonable (as champ at 154) and also GGG going up 168 isn't unreasonable

It's just how people whine about it which is making things just look silly and annoying

I said below average at 154.

You're forgetting his age, aren't you? Young guys in their early 20's can starve themselves and make weight. guys in their late 30's can't do the same, their bodies won't let them. Floyd is a solid 147 lb fighter, he is not small. He is not a giant but he is definitely not a small WW.

And yes, he needs Golovkin (or Cotto or some other fight that people will think he will lose). It would be alright if he didn't position himself as the god's gift to boxing, but when you do, you have big shoes to fill and big guys to fight. Pac fight was a disaster in terms of legacy, Manny did so poorly that the whole thing looked like a mismatch, greatly undermining the importance of the so-called mega fight. Everyone says Pac is shot to **** and generally downplay the importance of that win.

I never said Floyd was a small WW. He's a natural WW. The division fits him like a glove. I think you're pretty off base here about Mayweather's standing in the sport. Floyd was a top 30 ATG before the Pacquiao fight. He'll probably end up near the top 20 right now. The only people saying Pacquiao was shot are the ones who never want to give Floyd credit for anything. That win will play well for Floyd. To say it was a disaster for his legacy is a stark contradiction of reality in my opinion.

In no way, shape, or form does Mayweather need Golovkin more than Golovkin needs him. Golovkin is going around begging big names to fight him. Floyd literally made more than a 100 times more in his last fight than Golovkin has ever made in a fight. Floyd's typical payday is more than Golovkin has made in his entire career. And just look at their resumes. There is a reason that Golovkin, who is a career MW, is saying he would go down to 154 to fight Mayweather. It's pretty obvious who needs who.

On a personal level, yes, Golovkin needs Floyd infinitely more. Golovkin is just trying to become a star, Floyd is the biggest star out there. But legacy wise, Golovkin will gain very little for beating Floyd, since
    a. he is 3 inches taller and at least 1 weight class higher (2 to be fair, but they plan on meeting in the middle at 154)
    b. He is 6 years younger and finally
    c. Floyd is at the zenith of his career and is generally understood to be long past his prime

Floyd on the other hand has a unique opportunity to do what only select few, true ATG, did in the past: go up in weight and challenge the one man everyone avoids. If he pulls the upset, he will be rightly regarded as top 5 atg that ever lived; an honor he himself already believes he deserves.

I feel that they're looking for a big payday and to become a big draw. If Golovkin could manage to be the first one to beat Mayweather, and especially if he knocked him out, he'd become a huge draw instantly.

OK, so I'll ask for the 51st time. What if they schedule the fight, and the day before the fight GGG can't make the weight in a weight class he hasn't been in since he was a teenager; then what do they do?
