Jones became weak after he dropped down from HW. You can keep moving up but moving that far back down is a terrible carrer move...Jones wasn't seen as a glass jawed fighter when he beat Ruiz. He was seen as one of the best fighters in ther world..Lewis turned down an offer from HBO worth 30m because he didn't like the risk...Lewis never liked the idea of fighting anybody when they were at the top of their game and thats where Jones at that time.

How many times was Calzaghe brutally and embarrassingly KOed? :huh

What does any of that crap matter that you just posted? Only Jones got his Glass Jaw shattered on 3 continents not Calzaghe.

I meant the money haggling makes sense. Bernard had a good thing going at MW and probably wanted to be compensated in commensurate proportion with the risk as he perceived it.

So yeah, it does sound like he priced himself out as you can't expect Roy to drain himself all the way back down to 160 for him and so Hopkins moving up wasn't something that realistically needed balancing on the financial scales in negotiations. (I mean seriously, he can't have expected Roy to cut down. Who tempts fate and drops back down two weight divisions? :-( Absurd! Maybe a dope like Chris Byrd, but certainly not a sensible chap like Roy Jo- oh. :yep)

I think Roy was still under his skin - and probably still is now, even with the loss 'avenged'.

These jokers on here are hilarious!

They think they can win a debate by hurling insults around.

They all speak without saying anything.

Loudon is so busy swashbuckling with RJJ haters I don't think he's even noticed yet that someone came knocking to make a friendly inquiry on his area of specialty.

Dude's in whirling dervish mode, just sit back and enjoy.

I think even in that farce of a fight in 2010, you could see that Roy had a bit of a mental edge on Hopkins, or at least in my opinion..

I really feel like Bernard priced himself out of that one, he had everything to gain, and the fight would have been one of the biggest for both fighters' careers.

    :nod

...and, unlike in '93 or '10, in '98 there would be no question they were both in their prime with no room for excuses of either being 'green' or 'shot'.

It would have been more aesthetically pleasing than '93 or '10, too.

The fans got screwed most in all that.

Of course he would've destroyed him. It's actually a testament to Jones' greatness that people were even intrigued by that mismatch. Nothing he did was going to ever satisfy folks anyway.

At his peak, I thought Jones was great. Unorthodox, to be sure, but light years better than any other fighter. Incredible reflexes, hand speed 'n punching power.

No it's not a blatant lie.

I'll take Alton Merkerson's word over yours, thanks.

How many more times regarding Ruiz?

HE WASN'T HANDPICKED, and even if he was, how many other former MW's have gone up to fight at HW?

    Make a list.

We've all seen the various links regarding Lewis.

Lewis thought that Roy would be easy work, for a huge amount of money.

He was up for the fight.

But after he fought Vitali, he decided to retire.

OK lets play your little game then if Roy was going to stay at Heavyweight and fight Lewis why not fight his Mandatory (and we all know how much Roy loved fighting Mandatory fights he often used it as an excuse for not fighting legit threats) Dr. Vitali Klitschko?

According to your logic that would make sense. Right?

So you don't want to list Hearns, DeLaHoya's, Leonards respective amateur and professional credentials then?

Afraid you might make yourself look an even sillier fanboy than you already are?

As for your opinion my worth as a poster, I'm sure you will find by popular consensus the most irritating posters are revisionist fanboys.

Now as far as Roid Jones is concerned lets guess who they are shall we?
