I don't think he would have destroyed him at that stage, and Lewis obviously had some reservations, otherwise he'd have pursued the fight. Lewis was up for the fight before he fought Vitali. But afterwards, he knew that it was time to let go.
No we are showing him how Roy NEVER had any intentions of staying at Heavyweight other than fighting handpicked Ruiz. He keeps claiming Roy was going to stay at the weight and fight all these fights but nobody wanted to fight him which is total and complete BS. Either way which is more embarrassing getting KOed by Lennox or Glen Johnson? :rofl
How can you prove to me that Roy was never contemplating fighting more fights at HW?:think He actually had decent pop, and was without a doubt the fastest HW ever, many people including himself, gave him a decent chance at the weight around at that time.
I'm not playing any game. You are saying that he had no intentions of fighting anyone else, which isn't true. He didn't want a big run at HW, but he wanted a few mega fights for huge money. He wanted a Tyson fight, which would have been huge. Tyson was badly faded at that point, but that fight would have been one of the biggest fights ever. Then after he'd seen Lewis fight Vitali, he was looking at a monster payday against him. You've got to cut Roy some slack. He was nearly 35, he'd had 50 fights, and he had no business at the weight. He was never going to be desperate to fight guys like Sanders and Vitali. Those were high risk fights, that wouldn't have brought half the money that a Lewis or Tyson fight would have.
Because he didn't stay at the weight. it is absurd to say Lennox wouldn't fight Roy. OK, so the Tyson fight couldn't be made then why not stay and fight your Mandatory Vitali Klitschko? Hell even Murad Muhammad said Rodney Berman sent over a contract for Roy and Corrie Sanders to fight HBO wanted the fight and then Roy got cold feet and started with his delusional excuses. A Lennox fight with Roy would have been the easiest pay day of Lennox career. It would have been a brutal and quick KO. To say people were ducking Roy at Heavyweight is ludicrous. There were fights to be made Jones just didn't want them and for good reason. It would have been Shattered Glass live on HBO. There was only one John Ruiz to handpick it was the perfect storm for Jones so to speak.
They were fights that would have made him 4 times what he got for getting savagely KOed by Tarver and Johnson I guarantee you that. And yes we all know Roy never wanted high risk fights it was his MO his whole career you don't need to tell us that we already know it.
Why not fight Vitali? Jesus man.. Roy was not a true HW, it was obvious he was going to have to get the right fights.. This wasn't an era dominated by 186 pound Jim Corbett, there were gigantic HW H2H beasts in Lennox and the Klits.. Lets be realistic... And no one was talking about Roy's shattering glass at this time.. People didn't start saying that until a year or two later after he went back down to LHW and clearly lost something.
The fact that Roy was even able to go up to HW at all and win a belt is impressive, to anyone who doesn't have their head in their ass.
I posted you 3 links last week, that you completely dismissed, because it didn't suit your agenda. Ha! You're now challenging Mind Reader to compare Roy's credentials with Leonard and Hearns, because you've dug yourself a hole by claiming that Roy's not an ATG. But people are laughing at us?
Roy would have gotten killed by any world ranked HW not named John Ruiz. Can you imagine what the Klitschkos, Lewis, Sanders and even Holyfield would do to roy? :rofl Roy would be old cold for minutes
