yeah, when i think of calzaghe, i think of the way he used to pot shot fighters. all that power surely would have kept any heavyweight at bay. i'm sure all the heavyweights were ducking joe as well.
Roy hurt Ruiz early, had him wobbling.. Those pot shots were hurting him, he did a lot of stainding in the middle of the ring like a deer in headlights, he was second guessing himself, and showing Roy a ton of respect, to the point of angering his corner. Many of the times Ruiz would try to come forward, Roy would back away, tagging him with crisp shots, that had an effect.. To say Roy's punches had no effect??? I don't get that. He would not have showed Joe the same respect.. I think Ruiz would have stopped him actually.:yep You really pick Roy to beat Ruiz 100 out of 100 times? With that disgraceful chin you are always going on about?:think
Ruiz was in the middle of the ring because Nady made him. Watch the fight. Very early Ruiz tries to maul Jones and Nady runs in every time and threatened to take a point as early as the 2nd or 3rd round. Where was Ruiz going to go? He had no choice. Ruiz is not a puncher and never was with his flat footed slow style Jones can pot shot a guy like that all day long. To say he couldn't would be stupid. Perfect style matchup for Jones.
jones' jab won him the fight vs ruiz. it's really the only time jones consistently used the jab in any of his fights. ruiz just couldn't get out of the way of it with his slow, plodding style.
there are these things in boxing called rules. the referee is there to enforce those rules during a fight. not sure if you understand this with you being new to boxing. btw rico, how many fights have you had in your boxing career?
I have never once complained about Jay Nady enforcing the rules against Ruiz. Ever. Wish it happened in all his fights. You simply don't understand. I have been watching Boxing since you were shitting in your diapers and your mommy was wiping your ass.
How would Ruiz have fared in all his title defenses with a referee that enforced the rules? I think we both know the answer to that question. It would have been no different than the Jones fight he would have got out boxed or KOed. Without the Jab and Grab he was awful. The guy had no Boxing skills. None.
???????? The poster I responded to claimed that Lewis turned the fight down and I pointed out that, that was not the case.
It is not just the vast majority of fighters, but pro athletes in general. People have got to wake up and smell the coffee. You cannot compete at this level without PEDS. Legalize and regulate it already. And after that, stop pretending these jokers (and I mean any sport) are any kind of role model whatsoever.
Im busy at the moment Ill post up the whole thing in a a few days. http://www.secondsout.com/usa-boxing-news/usa-boxing-news/roy-jones-a-superstar-grows-older
There's a few interesting things in these articles below, that include Lewis talking about having 3 or more fights, before he fought Vitali. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/boxing/2003-06-19-lewis-jones_x.htm http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/columnists/article-230530/Lewis-lured-beauty-beast.html http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Boxin...EWIS+v+ROY+JONES+Jnr+IN+pounds...-a0104492166
It was in talks longer than that. And they both had fights in between. In other words, stop bringing up irrelevant sh*t. Second, Jones met with him and asked for a fight, which was turned down. Link provided. Sorry the facts don't agree with your bullcrap but that's the way it is.
