Eubank has never said he wanted nothing of Jones in '96-'97 - he was calling for him, and told Buncey that Jones wanted nothing of HIM.

Eubank offered Jones the opportunity to be part of the first professional boxing event ever held in Dubai, and a lot of money as Sky would've bought the fight from Eubank, who was self-managed/self-promoted at the time, and HBO would've lapped it up (they were trying to sign Eubank at the time).

    You're a joker!

Eubank wanted nothing to do with him. But when he'd lost twice to Collins who wasn't great, he wanted a shot.

Roy at the time was looking to move up and win a major belt in a new weight class.

Of course fighting Jones would've been 'suicidalish', how could it not have been with a fighter like that! I don't understand your point??

It would've been 'suicidalish' for Jones as well, of course.

Eubank has admitted on NUMEROUS occasions that he never wanted Roy, and was only interested in defending the WBO against mandatory challengers when he was prime himself.

After he'd lost to Collins, he wanted a payday and nothing more.

When Chris was fighting in Dubai, Roy was fighting Montell Griffin, and he had his sights set on Hill afterwards. But due to a moment of madness, he got himself DQ'd and was interested in nothing and nobody, except a Griffin rematch. Then after the Griffin rematch he took a break.

Fighting McCallum no matter how old he was, for the WBC belt, was a bigger fight than Eubank coming off of losses to Collins.

McCallum, Griffin and Hill were all bigger fights, for the major belts at 175.

I think that was just what Jones said it was, wasnt it?

I seem to recall something that when S Johnson defended against B Schwer and think it was found that he had something in his system that he shouldnt have, claimed that he had something in his system that he bought over a counter for a cold/flu as I recall, but it wasnt a product sold in the UK. Would need to check that out to make sure I am not wrong, but think I read it in Boxing news years ago after the fight

I did until it got boring. When it comes to these subjects Loudon, I already know while you learn off other posters along the way and write what you think rather than facts, which is why you get schooled and have fan boys who want to believe what they want to believe, but like you cannot answer to facts with a sensible answer

Nonsense - Eubank came back for respect, he had the money.

And more nonsense - Eubank would've been offering more money, more global audience and more history than the maze of alphabetical glitty belts. He was a far bigger fight than undrawable bores like McCallum, Griffin, Hill or whatever.

He was defending a MAJOR belt at 175.

    Eubank had nothing.

Roy's intentions were to beat Griffin, and then get to Hill.

But because of his stupidity, DM got there first.

    It's not hard to understand.

Fights with Griffin and Hill, were bigger fights than a Eubank fight at that point in time.

You didn't get bored at all.

You promised to pawn me, but had nothing to fire back.

    Your tank was EMPTY!

I'll give you facts all day long. What I've wrote here in this thread, can be backed up. They're not just my opinions.

Why don't try looking from Roy's perspective?

Who was bothered about Eubank's comeback in 96/97?

This is not a debate on who was the better fighter or opponent.

We know that Eubank was good, and McCallum was old etc.

    We know that.

But Eubank coming back wasn't big news, and why would Roy have been bothered?

Roy moved up to 175 because he couldn't deal with King at 168 and fight Benn and Liles.

So he moved up, beat McCallum, and then set his sights on Griffin and Hill, after his Dad had blocked the Douglas fight.

All those fights were bigger than a Eubank fight, who'd got no belt at the weight.

    It's as simple as that.

Once again you are writing what you think and not with facts.
How do you know what Roys intentions were?
You make silly statements saying Eubank had nothing but what did Hill have when Roy fought him? and then why with what you write would Roy go after that fight?
You see once again you are imagining what these fighters were thinking rather than facts
