by the way, the way mayorga was going at it with oscar was extreme, he really really verbally destroyed him. I was a big fan of oscar back then, him giving mayorga that beating after all that was really great.

A well timed or well phrased shot is always good. Unfortunately, most of the loudest talkers are also the biggest idiots (see Mayweather, entire family) and come off as childish and uneducated.

Plus, I really love it when a guy talks major trash then gets KTFO. It makes it a little sweeter.

oh i hated hamed, i love how barrera beat him and ended his career. I would have love for hamed to stay longer and fight morales-marquez and pacquiao. Those fights would have been entertaining.

Well if it's a fighter that shouldn't be talking trash ie.Malignaggi calling Hatton a bum, I can't stand it and pray they get KTFO.

Also, trash talk done out of bitterness to the extreme Marquez is taking it to is just plain embarrassing.

And trash for the sake of trash, like in every single ****ing UFC countdown with every tryhard trainer and friend of the fighters saying they'll no doubt break the other guys jaw, put them to sleep, decapitate them, etc.. is just pathetic.

Besides those exceptions, I don't mind a bit of trash talk, adds to the entertainment value for sure. Mayorga and Ali were my favorites. Tyson was great too when he was actually feared

Not a fan of trash talking, A little sledging is ok, but it looks classless ie Ali etc.... esp' when they don't back it up , like Haye, Briggs, etc... they should all be held accountable for what they say.

Much prefer either humble guys or guys like Mayorga or Duran who are like that and not just putting on an act ' to sell tickets , so it is ok to act like a dick'

hamed was epic, watch him trashtalking and watch floyd do it, you can clearly see who is way better at it. Im not saying anything about their abilities just the talk.

I like trash talk that's meant to be competitive and clever. Then there's just trash.

Competitive (I'm going to win, I'm going to knock this guy out.....)
Trash (I'm the best ever, you're a bum, gay, etc.....)

Trash talking can either make or break a fighters reputation. Depending on his ability to back that talk up. I can think of two more reasons people trash talk. 1 To boost their own self confidence. They just repeat same sh!t over and over again to make themselves believe what ever they are trying to preach. 2 They feel superior to someone so they think they have a right to belittle others. In both situations trash talk is pathetic way to feed your own ego.

It all depends on who is doing it, who they are and how well they do it.

    For example

Ricardo Mayorga - Back when he was a very good fighter, he would talk **** and then come hunt you down come fight night, he would dare you to hit him (Lewis, Forrest, Trinidad) and then fire back at you when you were done. He would say the things he said out of pure machismo, with flair and pride. He would say the type of things that you could tell would **** off his opponents right then and there, and leave fans cracking up wondering where the hell he comes up with that stuff.

Floyd Mayweather - Talks non stop, but just comes off as a fake, whiny, cringeworthy diva. Worst 'trashtalker' in the sport.

James Toney - I know hes a trash talking fav, but IMO hes overrated. What does he ever even really say? Says ***** a few times, says your momma a few times, says he will knock them out, hes as basic as abc when it comes to trash talking. The only thing that makes him worthy here is that it is a non-stop stream of it, and when it comes to James, you know that most of the time he will be in there doing his damnest to back up what he says, and he really would fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. Overrated as a real trash talker though.

So for me personally, trash talking all depends on the person doing the talking. Some can pull it off, most fighters just wind up looking completely stupid doing it.

I think Mayorga and Tyson are two of the best of recent times.
