Dan Rafael reported today that the PBC was considering another opponent for Wilder's prime time debut on NBC, Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KO).

Duhaupas held the French Heavyweight Championship before losing to David Price conquerer Erkan Teper.

Along with the Polish HW being considered, it's hard to get too excited for what should be Wilder's introduction to #freeboxing4all.

I've heard the arguments that fighters deserve an easy defense after winning a title, but he already had that against Molina (and he struggled to beat a mediocre HW).

I'm really confused as to Wilder will end up fighting in late September. I doubt they will take any chances on a fighter who would possibly challenge Wilder's undefeated record.

September has some pretty awful matchups.

    1) Stevenson/Karpency
    2) Mayweather/Berto
    3) Smith/Martirosyan
    4) Quillin/Tom Bob Anderson (maybe De La Rosa)
    5) Wilder/random French or Polish HW.

Hopefully Oct. is better with Matthysse/Postol and possibly Provodnikov/Broner.

Wilder has no excuse for this level of opposition.

These are not mandatory defenses. These a voluntaries and he's picking the weakest opponent in the top 15. And he's had the Sept date booked for months and only giving them like a months notice.

    Shameful.

Wilder really is a joke, his level of opposition for a WBC champion is truly atrocious.

I don't expect him to fight Povetkin, ever.

Yeah, boxing is so corrupted they'll probably find a way to keep fighting bums and cans for another two years, before Wilder announces his sudden retirement and people start discussing his ATG rating

Better than Wawrzyk and Molina but still not good enough.

Well, he's Pocahontas' brother, so can't really ask for more in an already weak division.

Truly spoken! The Frenchman is better than Warzyk and Molina.Nonetheless,Wilder shouldnt fight this kind of opponent after he has fought a mediocre journeyman like Molina.Shame on Wilder and his management!

Charr is held in high regard, and this guy pretty much boxed his ears off. He's a legit top-15 contender, which is the standard for a title defense. He's never been stopped and his only two losses were to real contenders.

He's worthy of a voluntary defense, not the best guy out there but solid.

Wilder always seems to fascinate me. He is literally scared of fighting anyone in the top 10. Who wouldn't be though, knowing you are packing a serious amount of american glass, you'd do a Tyson and fight bum after bum.
