You'll have to have a lot of experience and refferences in the field of reporting first, and then i guess u'd have to know some1 who knows some1. i dont fink its like an advertised job in the job centre
You need to really make a name for yourself writing articles, most likely for free. From there you could perhaps get a junior position with some kind of sports publication. Then from there it would be up to you to be better than the thousands of other budding reporters. Trying to break your way into journalism is no easy task & the rewards are minimal. Trying to break into quite a niche market such as boxing will be even harder.
Get a degree in mass communications ... (optional) Record yourself reporting or anaylizing an old fight and work on your skills ... work on your pronunciation, diction, and word play ... learn the fundamentals of boxing & have them down to a tee ... learn boxing terminology ... and study the different styles of boxing so that you have a complete understanding of the many different styles in the sport. don't show bias ... stay neutral ... and have an open mind ... most important of all practice and work at it to get better ... study guys like Joe Tessitor and Teddy Atlas -- they're some of the best IMO.
that would help . that aside...i currently am writing .i have been writing for about 3 months .while the standard isint high (compared to other sites) i think iam improving. recently had a sunday paper rip off my article with Barry morrison. This was last week and they are paying me for it but there not admitting they stole the story.
I think you'd have to make a name for yourself as a top journalist of the sport before its even considered. Kind of like talk show hosts are usually already celebrities before they reach that point.
