I stupidly punched a bit of wood and now have a swollen knuckle it is not that painfull but i think it is a bit more swollen than any other time and it is slightly bruised, it is my middle finger knuckle. Will the swelling go down and how long will it take?

Jesus.....just ice it, and use the pain and ridicule as a learning experience!

The longer, the better so the point gets across.

Serious enough that it will literally never go away until you rest it. No lie. Rest it. Ice it. Wear a sponge under your wraps. Idk why everybody doesn't do this simply for prevention. I just tell people it's cause I hit so hard I gotta put in some extra padding. Then if it's sparring I'll say something like "For you? No sponges, *****" and I remove them.
