i used to hate malignaggi, even after the cotto fight i didn't like him but recently i have somehow become a big fan of his. i also didn't like cotto until the maussa fight, i didn't think he was anything special, but guys like shane mosley i started liking them after the first time seeing them fight!
I used to hate Vitali cause I thought he was just another big guy with power but no skill, he proved me wrong in fights with Sanders and Lewis. He really showed alot of heart and the ability to slug it out. Its sad that now he lost alot of my respect for backing out against Rahman and being so fragile by getting injured all time.
I wasn't much of a Joe Calzaghe fan. Actually, I didn't really like him. But after watching some of his fights and getting more exposure to him, I am a fan of his. He's a tremendous talent.
I never used to really like Cotto. I saw him for the first time against NDou, and thought he was being over rated by some. But after watching him more and more, I was just blown away with how good he really was. I then went back and downloaded most of his career fights, and was amazed at just how well rounded he is as a fighter. Easily my favourite fighter in boxing right now.
I agree thats what makes you like a fighter. I used to not like Sam Peter but after I saw his first fight with James Toney I started to like him. Their is a difference than liking a fighter and believing that their the greatest fighter and they would never lose like the Hatton fans that are picking Hatton over PBF.
It helps when you're not conducting yourself like a douche in and out of the ring which Malignaggi strays away from doing. If you can speak intelligible English it helps. Once again Malignaggi has that covered. And not acting like God's gift to boxing when you're not God's gift to boxing tends to swing things in your favor. The Magic Man scores there too. Now looking like a new age Guido metrosexual, on the other hand, is where one typically loses points but somehow Malignaggi manages to make people overlook this flagrant foul. All praises due to him because of it.
For me it's seeing the guys progess in the ring and costantly take on good competition. I never used to like Hatton (and still think he is going to get his ass kicked against PBF) but I have more and more respect for him all the time. He has taken some hard fights, and he is realling biting off more than he can chew with PBF.
