We have foam rollers at the gym, but I'm reluctant to use it since there must have been several hundred sweaty ****s that have rolled around on that thing. :barf

4 hour workout is waaaay too long and probably a waste of time as theres no way you could train properly for 4 hours straight. After a tough session, I'll go home put a spoonful of Apple Cider Vinegar into a glass then pour boiling water in. Let it cool a bit, then drink it. Then make a small protein shake with glucose. Take my fish oils and drink plenty of water. Then hot shower, cold shower, hot shower and repeat afew times or else sauna, cold shower, sauna, cold shower. Plenty of water after this.

I have been using one consistently since the start of the year and it has helped my recovery (esp. after deadlift and squats) tremendously!

Not sure how you can get past stiffness when you pack in that much work after not being active for a lifetime. I would suggest reducing your workout time and doing something minimally active on your off days like a brisk walk with some light calisthenics mixed in and Shadow Boxing. I would also couple this with tons of water.

bald_head_slick , when i say i didnt get off my ass until i was 26 , i meant in terms of joining a gym , boxing gym or any other sport activities.. as far as my days off are concerend ( i can only dream of them ) as i have 2 kids aged 3 and 8 months , so im pretty much on my toes day n night.. also may be apart of why i train for so long as its nice to get a bit of peace and quiet .. lol

Yer what the other guys said. . Sounds like you're over training. Train for 1 hour - 1 1/2 hours, then use the extra time you have to warm down properly and go through a thorough routine of stretching then have a sauna and massage if available.

I think I understand what you mean and I meant no disrespect. Putting in 4 hours is no joke coming off of not being in the sport. Also on the tail end of your twenties is when rest becomes almost as important as the exercise. The kids keeping you from fully resting after that much get down also makes sense when you think about it. I feel you brother. I feel you.
