I feel that the three Cubans can become world champions. Yuriorkis Gamboa is a special fighter that can be a world champion maybe by the end of this year or the start of next. Yan Barthelemy is a very good prospect but needs more fights to be a better pro. Yan has fast hands and he's a good counter puncher but he needs to work on his defense and not to always depend on the counter punch. Odlanier Solis is a really good Heavyweight prospect and he could win a world championship fast but he has work to do with his weight. He has all the skills to be a champion but he needs to lose weight to get back a little bit of his speed that he had in the Olympics. How Do you guys feel about the three Cubans?
Gamboa gets the credit he deserves, Solís is the most underrated fighter in boxing but has to improve his technique. Barthelmi cant crack an egg but he was SO successful as an amateur (numerous wins over Gamboa) that I wouldn't count him out.
Gamboa sure as hell looks to be the goods. Barthelamy, I was left feeling like he could have gotten that man out of there last night with a little more effort. He had him buzzed bad in the 4th, only to let the guy survive and get back in it. Solis, I need to see more of, but have not read anything bad about him at all.
Gamboa is ready for a Championship soon. The other two should fight a little bit more than Gamboa is to get to that level and remember speed and skills are beat power. I think Barthelemy has power but he's been moving down in weight so I don't think we saw it yet.
Barthelemy couldn't punch his way out of a soggy paper bag. Luckily he is in one of the worst divisions in boxing, so he has a chance I'm not big on Solis, he's a bit fat and looked generally unimpressive in his last outing Gamboa is classy, obviously
Gamboa is the future, 400+ amateur fights is insane as well so he obviously has experience under his belt.
I think they will get even better with more pro fights. There are all pretty young and they all will improve with more fights.
