I think anyone who knows boxing can see a puncher. I think what it is more is who is good at stopping people with different attributes. Example being, Chavez sr and golovkin are two fighters I would say arent huge punchers but could stop more people than a limited puncher due to perfect footwork and way of closing down range and executing perfect combinations always accurate and pressure is too much. You can get a serious ko percent with being great at lots of things and then you get the punchers who punch very very hard with one shot but may have more losses or go distance when fight someone who is a little more slippery. That's why Tommy hearns is one of the greatest ever for me due to being one of the hardest punchers ever and also having a great jab and mesmerising speed

Yeah, I'd bet there have been tons of extremely hard-hitting men who most of us have never heard of because they were too slow or uncoordinated or couldn't take a punch or lacked the discipline to succeed in the sport.

I wouldn't and can't. I simply guess, and listen to the testimony of common opponents where available. That's why this is so tantalizing and frustrating.

I think Butterbean is such a guy, but of course we've all heard of him. Though he certainly wasn't slow of hand.

But then, I'm sure that you have a way to calculate the quality of the opponents...and the chins that they're cracking before you make some instant determination, right Mark?

You don’t think Golovkin is a huge puncher?

Yes he punches hard and is heavy handed I'm just saying he isnt one punch and you are out he is so good at stopping people because he cut off the ring so well and didnt leave you alone. Let's face it how many punches did he land on rosado and Murray?
