How do you guys rate Herbie Hide?

For all the criticism you can level on Hide, at least he isn't afraid to come and fight - you saw that against Bowe and other bigger dudes, when really, he wasn't even a real HW.

Trouble is his head. A bit ****ing mental doesn't help you to focus on your job.

He is a very good fighter who keeps himself in shape.

 

he's a courageous fighter, but to tell you the truth, his style has always been somewhat of an eye sore to me, like an ugly *****

 

I heard his autobiographies coming out soon, should be interesting. Hes a very dangerous fighter who gets ducked alot, hes a dirty ******* in the ring as well although I dont mind a bit of that to liven things up. Every sport needs its bad guys, hes one of them.

Done well to earn all that money and hold a world title, was a average fighter with a big punch

 

He won the world title at an early age (22) and got thrown in at the deep-end with Bowe. He was outgunned in this fight by a fighter who was a class above him, but he showed a lot of heart in the fight by continuing to get up from the knockdowns he suffered.

His career since then has been up and down, and he has been ridiculed by many on here due to his 'glass jaw' - but he hasn't had a bad career at all. Currently he is on the up and could potentially fight for a world title at cruiserweight - the odds are very much against him actually winning a title at a weight he should have fought at from the beginning, as he his lacking in power and does not have the same ability as he once did due to his age.

Still, I think he is slightly underrated on here, good fighter who was not quite good enough for the very top.

 

Earned good money in his career, although knowing what an idiot he is he's probably pissed it away.

Unfortunately earning money was at the expense of achivement, because he was always a natural cruiserweight. He could have had good success if he fought their earlier, but he waited until he was past it. Right now he's horrible.

 

actually he might seem a bit of a nutcase but he hasn't "pissed" his money away and has invested it well, mainly with the help of barry hearn

going up to heavy is one of the reasons he earned that money, he was never anything special, decent fighter with a monster punch, dodgy chin and loads of heart, with technical deficiencies thrown in.

he achieve a lot in imo bearing in mind his flaws and size.

 

I thought he declared bankruptcy a bit ago? well maybe i was wrong. nope, I looked it up he did declare bankruptcy in 99, seems he has trouble with going to jail too. Seems a bit of a loose cannon, doesn't think much before he acts.
