How do you Haye fans expect Haye to fight Klitschko? David Haye has not been throwing many punches in his fights against large Heavyweights (Valuev and Harrison). From what I have seen Haye looks like a fighter at HW who is afraid to get hit, is fighting very conservatively, has a very low work rate, and only looking to land one big punch at a time. Haye is going to get KTFO waiting, if he don't figure out a way to fight more aggressively against Klitschko. Haye is not Lamon Brewster, or Sam Peter, Haye's biggest liability is his durability. Wladimir is too skilled, hard to hit and precise with his punches for Haye to wait on the outside only looking to land one big punch all night.
I think Haye knows his limitations pretty well. He is a fighter who cannot take a good Heavyweight punch period, but punches hard himself. And David Haye fight accordingly to that mind set -safety first, then looking to land one big knock out punch. He knows as lousy as Harrison was, and as average as Valuev was ( in everything but size) he could of been laid him out with one good punch.
Staying away in the first round. Then in second round he will time Wlad and counter with a vicious Hayemaker. Wlad will be stumbling and Haye finishes him off.
It took Haye 12 rounds to commit to throwing a knock out calibre punch against Valuev. You think he is going to come out like smoking Joe Frazier aginst Klitschko in two rounds? Haye is in danger of being Ko'd at all times he is on the outside waiting not throwing punches, considering the way he fought Valuev and Harrison. Klitschko has a that same type of reach but also an explosiveness that those fighters lacked to land and dominate an opponent from the outside all fight long!! Klitschko can sit back jab and he is so difficult to reach. To get inside and land.
I fully expect Haye to have the same approach he had vs SNV..run n potshot. Try n lunge in with a couple of bombs. He has mentioned having a Tyson like approach..well, lets see...but I cant see it. If he does adopt the same approach vs SNV I only hope he's more aggressive and throws more punches. I thought he was lucky to get the nod vs SNV and nobody would argue the Klits (either of 'em) are on another level to SNV. I wanna see a real aggressive Haye and see him fight like he's talked..but somehow I'm expecting him to be too scared to do it. The first couple of rounds will set the pattern n show Hayes gameplan. Fingers crossed i'm wrong and he is all guns blazing.
Haye needs to get past that jab. Whether he times it (that will be difficult), or just charges Wlad...he will not beat Wlad if he is being peppered with the jab, in turn stopping his offense. We will most likely see Haye on the outside, doing a lot of feinting...his reflexes need to be spot on. I expect him to explode on Wlad a couple of times, whether he is successful, we will see. I would say he has the power to have Wlad in trouble if he lands.
It is such a monumental jump in class from Audley Harrison to Wladimir Klitschko. Haye's only chance is to bum rush Wladimir from the opening bell, and look to land the big punch first. If Haye waits and starts getting hit with Wlad's jab...........his chances start diminishing quite rapidly because even a jab from Wlad is going to hurt and unsettle Haye,
Haye bet on himself to knock Audley out in the round he said he would, thats the only reason he was apprehensive!! And Valuev was the biggest heavyweight champion in boxing history!! Anyone who knocks haye for not running into a giant with a huge reach advantage all guns blazing is plain stupid!! Vlad will b unlike either bout!!
I'm not sure you can use the Harrison fight as a data point in that argument. There were clearly gambling-related things going on in that fight. As soon as Haye was clear to let loose (3rd round), he did.
I'm a Haye fan and nobody can deny that was a very scared performance! Holyfield...yes OLD Holyfield fought a much better fight - threw more punches and fought far more braver. Hayes excuse for his little activity was his so called broken right hand...well in this next fight we'll see if that was the case or not!!!
Why because 'Haye says' he bet on that round (then took back that statement)? Hayes word is worth it's weight in ****!! You should know that by now. Haye fought Harrison with the same cautious nature that he fought Valuev. I think Harrison may have more pure punching power than Valuev. Haye could of been Ko'd with one punch by a bum and I think Haye knew it.
Haye was fighting to become the World Heavyweight Champion!! he knew Valuev was slow and blundering and that if he hit and moved he would win with virtually no risk!! its called a well executed gameplan!! he's apparently so scared at heavyweight but last time i checked also undefeated....
Undefeated but also carefully matched (old slow fighters for a young speed fighter) , protected and untested! Larry Donald was outboxing Valuev and argueably won! That is Hayes best win by far. David Haye has taken the easy path at HW every chance he has had!! Barrett his first fight. He pulled out of fighting Vitali to fight Valuev. He took so much time off then fought Fraudley! Ruiz he was forced to fight, but he also happend to be old, slow, and washed up!! Another good safety fight to line his pockets. Ruiz has been completely dominated and embarrassed twice by former middleweights.
Your foul-mouthed theories would have more weight if the word wasn't out ahead of time. I was watching the odds on that fight and the odds on the Haye win in Round 3 plummetted in the 24 hours before the fight, completely out of proportion with the other rounds. I remember thinking -- just from watching the odds graph -- that "Hmmm, the fix must be in", then found several forum posts and twitter feeds that Haye's family had been betting heavily on the third. This was all before the fight had happened. The fact is, Audley was such a lame-duck opponent that the first two rounds looked **** because there wasn't much action to hide the fact that Haye was having to stall. When seen in that context, the fight isn't a surprise.
