How do you judge a round if

although a kd is technically scored as a point deduction, it is not a mandatory deduction suchh as a referee taking a point. in the case of both fighters being knocked down in a round, it goes back to 10 points for the winner of the round. you could score it even or score it for the fighter who had the better round 10-9.

 

ask yourselves, is it fair for a fighter to literally dominate a 2:50 of a round, and then get caught off balance and kd, (not hurt) end up losing thaat round 10-8

 

a deduction is applied after the round. if one fighter is winning sans KD, its 10-9 for him. then the minus one point: it would be 9-9

 

funny you said that, I just rewatched the Diaz-Morales fight and was thinking how much Diaz dominated that 1st round until the knockdown.

I first scored that round 10-8 for Morales but it should of been 10-9 under a 10 point must system right?

 

Normal scoring, minus one for the bad guy. It is rare to score a 10-8 round in the absense of a point deduction or a knockdown.

Boxing does itself no favor by not clearly instructing judges how to score a knockdown round in which a fighter was clearly winning, get knockdown.

I have no idea why judges are'nt instructed to score a round as if a knockdown did'nt occur, and then deduct 1 point to the fighter that got knockdown.

So if a fighter would have won the round without the knockdown 10-9, it then becomes a 9-9 round with a knockdown.

Somebody mentioned the JMM-MAB round 8 in which JMM was completely dominating MAB and bombarding him with shots.
....a case could have been made that JMM won that round 10-8 had the knockdown not occured.
......under defined rules of deducting a point for knockdown, it would still have made the round 9-8 JMM.

.....but under the existing rules that are not really defined, more than likely each of those judges would have scored that round 10-8 MAB had the knockdown been ruled by Nady, and MAB did'nt foul JMM afterward.

.....essentially ridiculous, because what was to be a possible 10-8 round for JMM, now swung 10-8 for MAB over a flash knockdown.
What would have essentially happened here, is that the flash knockdown scored by MAB would have brought him a +4 points, which is completely ludicrous.

Why boxing's higher up's dont see this and do something to rectify it is beyond all comprehension!:-(
