While i was browsing the round by round thread i see a post that goes like this...

"cotto was winning the round but at the final 10 sec margarito was handing him his ass. Tough round to score.."

how was that a tough round to score?:patsch

cotto deserve that round since you have him winning for 2 minutes and 50 seconds!

Because some people may think that although Cotto had the better part of the round, Margarito's aggression added to the fact that he had Cotto out on his feet now give him the round.

Aggression + The quality punches of the round landed + Having your opponent out on his feet = Worthy reasons to give a guy a round.

I remember that round. I believe I scored it for Margarito. Cotto was pretty much winning the round, but in the last 10 seconds, Margarito wobbled Cotto with a combination and you could tell that Cotto was visibly hurt. In fact, he completely turned his back towards Margarito and was trying to walk to his corner with about 2 seconds left.

Cotto was scoring but Margo was doing the hurting... Cotto could not sustain margos pressure by just boxing him. I gave Cotto majority of the early rounds...

so does marg deserve that round because of an excellent 10 second performance:huh

this was similar to pac-marquez 2 round 1 if all of you will remember. But all 3 judges(including the judge who had jmm winning) scored it for pac.

who would you feel who won the round if that 10 seconds was at the beginning of the round, while cotto did better for the rest of the 2 minute and 50 seconds?

I think Lederman was pretty accurate tonight - it was the first time I have watched a live stream on HBO.

Trouble is - there is always a winner in every round, what is wrong wth scoring an even round?

The only definite even round was the ninth, but most of them were very close indeed.

Judging a fight isn't based on what one fighter did over segments of a round; it's about what a fighter did in the round overall.

Margarito had Cotto reeling backwards and visibly hurt. It was clear that Margarito inflicted more damage on Cotto and it was also clear that just about everyone would rather have been Margarito in that round than Cotto.

Sounds like a Margarito round to me.

well not necessarily segments but just the entire course of the round except the final 10 seconds. What margo did in a round overall was in just summarize in 10 seconds.

that why i don' get scoring sometimes, fighter A for example dominates the entire round and was hurting his opponent until only 3 secs remains fighter B then pulls off a lucky shot resulting in a KD automatically making him the round winner 10-8
