Yeah I mean especially with novices, that mental edge can be kind of big. Imagine two first timers going at it. Blue corner has some kid with the bare minimum gear that doesnt match, we're talking straight clearance sale stuff from ringside. He sees the dude in the red corner with the matching robe, embroidered with his name, pro style addidas that mayweather rocks. He could start wondering, what the **** have I gotten myself into, I dont belong here.It happens.

Bottom line is wear whatever you are comfortable with, rules permitting of course.

Well it's kinda late now. He's gonna walk in there with those things flying in the wind, and in the back of his mind will be..."Meh, I wonder if all these people think I look like a jerkoff like them people said on that there forum." lol

A guy I like and used to spar, really good fighter was on the main event against another guy from my new gym who is a better fighter The first guy's grandpa had just died recently and had bought him a very fancy and flashy robe. He wore it that night for the first time to honor his grandpa, but did mention afterwards that he felt conscious of it and it did mess with his mind a little.
