    Points to consider...
    • Canelo was Greenelo (fought a number of shot dudes and should have gotten a Draw against Austin Salmon)
    • Canelo was Deadnelo @ 152

    Excellent but tainted win.

The fact that Floyd drained Canelo is a sore point for me.

But Canelo has gone on to improve from the fight.

This was the fight which made me ever stop doubting Floyd Mayweather, he was so fast, reaction time was immense and to say he was about 37 at the time i think? Incredible.

It was an excellent win and nobobody has ever handled or taken Canelo to school the way Floyd did.

I'm no FMJ fan but that was defensive boxing at it's best. Yes Canelo was raw but not totally inexperienced. He just could not land on FMJ whose movement was simply fantastic all night. It was a superb performance. The fact C J Ross scored it a draw shows how corrupt Las Vegas boxing is.

TBF though Canelo has never allowed himself to be drained nor dictated ever since.

The fact Floyd Joy was reluctant to fight Canelo at 154 yet willing to do Cotto at 154 should be held against him.

    Decent.
Drained and both defensive counter-punchers and the more experienced Floyd made Canelo chase him all night; that's not Canelo's style.

Floyd schooled him in spots once he settled into the fight, like in some of the middle rounds and in Round 11. But we can't deny how uncomfortable Floyd was early on in the fight and how well Canelo did vs Floyd overall.

For the first 4 or 5 rounds, Canelo was doing as good or better than pretty much anybody ever has vs Floyd. Canelo was feinting very effectively and he did take advantage of some openings. Canelo got in a lot of jabs to the body, some clean hooks to the head, and landed some hard jabs on Floyd. But he only had 1 real sustained attack on Floyd which was towards the end of the 10th round.

The 152 lb catchweight definitely taints the win but it seemed like that was the only way that Canelo could get Floyd in the ring. I'd expect a better version of Canelo at 154 to have done better and end up with a much closer fight. As it was, it was a pretty clear victory for Floyd but far from dominant. A tainted win due to the catchweight, Floyd giving himself every advantage and still struggling. But still, Floyd was impressive, out of character somewhat in how he fought, but still effective nonetheless.

A good win, but not a great win. The catchweight and Canelo not yet in his prime dings it slightly.
