Been watching a lot of boxing today and seeing how it's a very under rated category. A fighter can be medium quality but if he is very mentally strong he can make for a dangerous adversary. In my opinion atleast.

Where do you rank the importance of mental strength?

It was the great Ali who said - or maybe it was the Socrates of boxing Cus D'Amato who said - champions must have will and skill. But the will must be stronger than the skill.

very important. you can find a list of fighters who had the talent but lacked the heart. zab judah had tons of talent but had a really bad attitude that led him to many downfalls. victor ortiz...well you know. etc etc

Probably the most important asset, separates the men from the boys.

Indeed. Look at Bernard Hopkins. He probably didn't have half of the innate ability of Roy Jones, but his incredible will took him further, made him a greater fighter over the long term.

Very high.who would be a good example of this as a stand out attribute? IMO you would need a high level of mental strength to even get in the ring, and by that I mean to have done the intense training that it takes to even think about getting in the ring for real, never mind actually pursuing it as a career. I think high mental strength eliminates being medium quality.

    examples:
    Maidana
    Froch
    DSG
    Bradley
    Broner
    Provodnikov

few names I think are mentally tough fighters.

Tennis great, Boris Becker, said if the match goes to five sets, it's not about tennis anymore.

    Same thing in boxing.

At some point it boils down to who wants it more.

    Mental toughness.

its very important especialy the stamina you can have all the talent in the world if your conditioning isn't perfect you gonna lose at some point.

hearth is a very good attribute too it can be very dangerous if you have an iron chin and good power to match it

    as already stated

it seperates the men from the boys

you do not play boxing and that is what seperates boxing from most other sports

I'm starting to think that more than who wants it more. It actually defines the competitiveness of a fight. Example

Ward was pretty much outclassing the **** out of froch. BUT.... Froch never totally gave up on the fight and he made ward earn every round. Even tho Froch was out he kept pushing.

Defiantly Garcia ,broner isn't , wouldn't say proviknikov is either , froch has serious will as does Bradley but it doesn't always help Bradley like it does with froch

    All important

Stamina (& durability) are physical attributes that are quantifiable....
