His physical attributes will always make him a difficult opponent but I'd favor all all time greats over him and guys like Lyle, Moorer, Tua etc I'd be confident in picking to beat him.

While a man that big and durable should always be respected I'd pick quite a few guys to decision him. Finding someone who could stop him is a tougher task.

I totally disagree. He deserved the 2 losses on his record (Chagaev and Haye) and he was lucky to get by Larry Donald, John Ruiz x2, and a 46 year old Holyfield. None of those guys were really big HWs with the exception of Donald (he is 6'5" with an 81" reach).

Why do people talk about Valuev in here so much? He was awful for a man of his size.

I could totally imagine small HWs like Dempsey or Marciano beating him into submission.

Well, people are saying he had decent skills, jab, and power. He obviously had height, reach, and weight. What I'm saying is if he had decent skills, jab, etc... plus he's a freaking giant... he should have been able to do better instead of struggle/lose vs. the likes of Donald, Ruiz x2, an ancient Holyfield, Chagaev, and Haye.

It's not like we are throwing Shaq in the ring... Valuev was at least a fair pro boxer... plus he was a giant. That combination should have brought more impressive results... since it didn't I believe that he was fairly limited and did as well as he did due in large part to his... well, large parts lol

Lost to a 50 year old Holyfield.

Might do well against lesser fighters of different eras.

Also didn't face the best fighters of his own era, namely the Klitsckos.

P.s I'm devastated we didn't see Vitali vs Valuev, I know that was close to happening.

Would have been interesting to see they handled one another.

Wrong.Tye Fields failed against Ford and Ford is an absolute bum.
    Ustinov is a fat cherry-picker.
I don't know only one example when ustinov or fields looked dangerous against a decent fighter.

I don’t think that he was anything exceptional head to head.

I see him as a good contender, and that’s about it.

I think Valuev tried too hard to be a skilled boxer. I think he should have thrown his weight around more, charged in, used his shoulders, pushed and shoved, kind of a like a young Foreman. He didn't use his size advantage all that well.

Me too. Larry going away and made him look like a newborn giraffe in the legs department. I'm still surprised the match was ever made.
