Agreed Hatton isnt world class and Gavin would outbox him for 12 rounds and Brook well im not sold totally on this guy yet so will reserve comment on that !

As far as Alvarez is concerned I think mentally he will mature alot more which will make him a smarter fighter... at the moment hes boxing like any talented kid should but i think he does have improvement in him ...and it would be interesting to see a Berto type puncher in with him ! ...

I think Alvarez will struggle with anyone that has fast hands, feet or a little bit of slickness.

Look who he has been matches with. Fat Cotto, Baldomir, Hattons **** brother. N'Dou is the closest we have seen to a skilled fast fighter and he looked horrible in that fight.

Finally caught the fight last night, it was a good an entertaining performance for sure. Gotta say though if he neglects his defence like that against any of the Top 10 he will be sparked out. You can't afford to do that against the best and he'll need to figure that out sharpish. Maybe he just had not respect for Matt as an opponent or just no respect for his power.

I still rate him highly though, some of his offensive work was very good and I still think hes a powerful guy, despite not stopping Hatton who performed above and beyond expectation IMO.

To say he looked horrible in the N'Dou fight is a bit harsh. It was clear N'Dou wasn't in that fight to win and to be honest very few look great against him. Alvarez won nearly every round so I can't see how you can criticise that performance too much.

What will he improve? what can he improve?
When Khan was on the way up you could see plenty of exciting talent, but plenty of areas where he could also improve- still can.

With Alavarez I don't see it at all. He is a good fighter but I don't see many areas where he can or will improve, he is pretty steady in most departments. His hands won't get quicker. He could sharpen up his defensive game I suppose.

Good potential, but if he fights one of the other belt holders at LMW, particularly Cotto, he's getting served.

    Is he special?

From the evidence of what we have seen we have to say he's looking quite special: It's all about potential, and he has it in abundance due to his age and ability.

How can he not improve at the age of 20, you don't just stop improving, technique doesn't stop improving just your athletic ability declines, i.e reflexes, speed, power, stamina etc. And at his age all those attributes are just going to improve.
