do you think it's possible the referee of the main event sat. night could have possibly bet on the over/under of nine rounds with "over"? why else would be be so forceful in pushing the fight to go on? it was so very strange.
Mercante can't seem to remove himself from a fight. Referees are to be seen, not heard. And not even to be seen, if the fight is clean. Definitely my favorite. He'd probably have caught that towel in mid-air and prevented the corner from even getting through the ropes; the man's got superb ring control. Plus, he lets the fight go until a fighter can't defend himself. :smoke If anyone has ever had a complaint about him, I've yet to hear it.
hey great minds think alike. you took the words out of my mouth about mercante can't seem to remove himself from a fight. i honestly think he wants to be out of his dad's shadows and therefore crying for attention.
I can't for the life of me remember the referee's name, or even the bout, with that lightning-quick classy prayer. I keep thinking that ESPN has an archive, so I'm disappointed again and again every week when I try to check something. I so so so badly want tape of February 2006, when Alonzo Butler TKO'd Terry Porter by way of buttcheek. :!: The "don't make me work" ref very early on in this(?) season was interesting, as well. They stopped clinching after the first "Don't look at me! If you can't work out of a clinch at this point in your career, then there's not much I can do for you."
