Just curious as to how people rate him in terms of skill.

Cleverly's skill level is very average for a 'World champion'

Very talented - he is tall, rangey, fast, durable, good engine, doesn't look weak and has some power but technically he is just terrible, he really is.

Predictable reply, who was it you think he should fight again? Clev has decent skills, problem is he does not hit hard enough to discourage the real top boys.

Has good hand speed and mixes the punches up well, although in all fairness I thought he was a bit head happy against karpency.

No where near elite, would say top level euro/fringe world

Chilemba, and he has average skills at best he simply walks forward and throws horrible looking shots. He has no power to trouble anyone above domestic level either, all that gets him through fights is his engine

He's not a world class technician but has a world class engine. That and also having physical attributes really do help him.

So his ability in terms of skill it's not great, very average but the willingness to graft and throw punches get him wins.

  9. He's got a lot of ability and untapped potential, that I think will eventually go to waste.

I'm not sure he's all that fussed, doesn't seem to want the really big fights.

Good point, The talk before the Bellew fight was like a guy who achieved a fair bit. He's only just got the world title. You'd think he have big plans but seemed to be thinking about life after boxing in a short term view..

  11. I seem to remember him only being earmarked to be a goodish domestic prospect, so he's exceeded expectations in that respect.

Still, with that in mind, why not reach for the top?

With a bit of fine tuning he can be a genuine world champion, not just a Frank VVarren champion.

Well if that's the case clev would have too much for him...he fought Murat who is exactly the same kind of fighter and broke his resistance eventually

    :deal agree with this.

He's also got a very good chin. He wont often be out worked and wins rounds on work rate alone, makes him a hard man to beat. He'll get caught by a big shot but come back with 4 or 5 lesser quality but eye catching shots.

I know and so was I.... My point being clev beat Murat, who has a very similar style from what you say to chilemba (not that I've seen him), and thus I would give clev a big shout at beating chilemba
