Yeah, he did follow McCory around the ring a little bit. I've seen the second one but many years ago, is he just as bad in that fight? Does he just follow his man around again? No adjustments?

He did seem better at cutting the ring off in some of his earlier fights, maybe fell in love with his power a bit.

he had the same issue with Laing though, in the end his feet were too slow.Regardless of fundamentals you can't magically cut the ring off on someone with the speed to continually slide out of there and the footwork to turn you, if you have Louis feet.Even someone like Chavez took his time to track down and slowly score on runners and he was faster of foot with better footwork than someone like Jones ever was.

His earlier fights were in smaller rings, mind you.

Losing the bid that would have given home advantage was perhaps key in these fights.a smaller typically low quality euro ring and minus the heat, plus the hostile atmosphere for McCrory(who showed he could be unnerved on the big occasion against Don)may have been enough to swing things towards a late come from behind KO.

Tuff to recall. Haven't seen the fight since the original air date.

I always apply Harry Grebs advice to young aspiring boxers...Play Handball!!
when i reccolect Jones vs McCrory
It woudda won him the fight
    He really had no clue.

recall mccrory saying the best asset of jones was his defense

His deficiencies as a fighter really were
He was a Dempsey from the waist up
    He carried firepower
He was a Dempsey in reverse from the waist down
He couldn't move in and deliver his power

yeah, he had very technically sound high guard defence when he used it, a bit like Quartey or Wright.

He also knew how to slip punches better than someone superior in the same style like Tito, though with ordinary reflexes, feet stuck in cement and less physical talent he'd still take just as many, if not more punches.

Interesting interview in BN this week with Milt McCrory. In it he said how highly he rated Jones and how hard it was to hit him clean.
Here's a clip from The first McCrory fight, look at Jones head movement.
