Floyd obviously has mastered the art of boxing, but how to rate someone as a ATG when he so carefully chooses his opponents? Imagine Sugar Ray Robinson refusing to fight LaMotta, Henry Armstrong staying at Featherweight instead of going for the Welterweight and Lightweight titles, or Ray Leonard holding out for 100 million and never fighting Hearns. It's the crazy , unlikely goals attained by great fighters that make them stand out in history. Not a lot of posing, snotty talk and avoiding anyone who may have a chance.
true. yet thats also a sign of the times and shows how much money is involved in sport nowadays. fighters gone by would (for the most part) be doing the same sort of thing nowadays if they were fighting now
well i'm not a pacquiao fan as such, i enjoy watching both fighters in the ring however. in terms of skill and technique floyd is hard to surpass. he really is that good. my only qualm from a personal point of view is his persona out of the ring (or certainly the pantomime villain he puts across so well) and his sometimes lacklustre choice of opponent (in recent years i do feel he hasn't faced who he should have, although i feel his record would probably read the same now regardless). also, personally, i would love to see him go into proper deep waters and get into a skillful tear up just to prove a point.
In trying too hard to be funny you managed to get it completely wrong. atsch It should read: Ballset = 0 out of 5
floyd's resume actuallyis pretty impressive. it just isnt impressive when you compare it to what comes out of his mouth
I rate him ridiculously high. Most skilled fighter I've seen fighting in my time as a fan, and that includes Roy Jones. I don't think anyone of his generation at welter or below beats him when 100%, it's just a shame he never proved it.
Defensive genius but lacks that real defining fight. Many say that either a fight with Pacquiao or Martinez will define his career.
75% of the *******s on here won't give Floyd credit for beating Manny, they will just make excuse after excuse.
I'm a big Pac fan. I consider Floyd an amazing fighter, but not as good as Pac. He is an ATG. The 3rd best fighter of this era after Pac and RJJ.
