I actually think Floyd hits every bit as hard as Pac, possibly even harder... though I doubt that will be a popular opinion. I would say that he certainly hits more than hard enough to force a stoppage against Pac if he lets his hands go.
I don't know about that.... The final blow Pac hit Hatton with made Hatton look like he was having a damn siezure....
Ricky was slooow, but definitely stunned Pacquiao on one occasion. However Ricky was too woozy after that first knockdown to notice (much like many of the observers it seems), let alone capitalise on it, and Manny recovered quickly so it wasn't a problem for him. Floyd Mayweather is bigger and stronger than Ricky nowadays, and I think he should be able to handle Pacquiao's approach. (As a disclaimer: given the choice, I'd prefer to watch Manny over Floyd by some distance - but his flaws seem fairly plain, even to a casual observer like myself. Floyd won't have failed to pick up on them.)
Not very highly, in comparison to Pacquiao. I don't think Floyd is lacking in power, like Roach always says 'speed equals power', what I think Floyd lacks is effective aggression, I think he is very inconsistent when it comes to 'pulling the trigger'. Size issues aside, I really think JMM will beat him, and Floyd won't even make it to Pac.
I'm sure he has great power too. Thing is, he is a hesitant puncher. Defense comes to his mind first. Everytime he throws, he already thinks of him not being countered. And that diminishes the power in his punch. But throw a little guy with no known power against him, I'm sure he'll take him out quick.
Thats part of the reason why pbf never really gets hit clean with anything. Its not so much he has legendary defence (although he does have an very good defence) but more to do with the fact he hardly ever takes risks to get off big shots. To me pacquiao and marquez have better defence in the exchanges, look at pac-marquez 2 both fighters duck and slip whilst going toe toe, which requires a far higher level of skill than just sitting back and not taking the risks.
5/6 out of ten at WW. He has never been a puncher in any weight class really, and if he was it would be a bad thing for anybody in it.
I'd rate his power at about 6. He's not going to be knocking guys out regularly, but he definitely has the power to gain people's respect and fighters won't be walking through jis punches, except maybe a guy like Margarito. However I think this is more to do with the fact he doesn't sit down on his punches that much, if at all.
He's very strong _ I just don't think he cares about getting the knockout more than winning. When you see him fight _ most times even when he has a fighter hurt he doesn't go in for the kill. His power is underrated !!
imo his power is underrated because of the gloves he wear and the fact that he has brittle hands which probably y he doesnt sit on his punches often he has enough power to hurt pac
Consensus seems to be somewhere around a 6 out of 10 and I would tend to agree, maybe ever say 7. He has respectable power - he doesn't KO guys by design but with the few shots he does throw he gets his opponent's attention - this isn't something you can say about a guy like Maliggnagi or that Gaudet guy from the Soto fight.
Hes actually got great power. Its just hes a small WW and there bigger then him. Just in his last 4 fights, Judah was gonna get KO but hit Mayweather in the nuts, Baldmoir had only been stoped once, DLH had only been stoped once before Mayweather fought him, and Hatton had never been stoped. Mayweather is more of a TKO kinda of boxer because PPL just quit or take mutiple knockdowns be fore the ref stops it.
being a safety and defense-first boxer, floyd doesn't sit too much on his punches. he will not sacrifice his defense in exchange to loading up on his punches since he knows he becomes more hittable and vulnerable to counters when he does this.
Dude his defense is legendary!! A power punch from Floyd Mayweather comes thru a straight right or a left hook he lands them often. He has patience which a lot of fighters lack. Better defense in exchanges? We'll see what happens to Marquez if he tries to go toe to toe in the pocket with Floyd Mayweather...Manny too!!
