I rate this as 1 of his best victories. hatton was undefeated and looked brilliant vs castillo. maybe it was an english thing but there was massive hype surrounding hatton in the build up to the fight, after all he upset the odds vs tyszu why not now? he had won a belt at ww and smashed his way through the lww division. i thought hatton had a real chance of victory in this one. i rate it as in his top 5, alongside corrales, castillo, odlh an mosley.
maybie i was blinded by my love for the hitman as i actually believed he could beat floyd! i rate this as an excellent win for floyd, hatton was great at 140,undefeated and the build up to the fight was fantastic.
High profile is the key to Floyd's con. He takes on high profile guys that aren't much of a threat. And avoids the really tough challenges. For the most part he's gotten away with it because, as has been said, the guys he's avoided weren't that high profile. But things are changing now with Pac. People are realizing this guy won't fight the best. As for the question itself, all the concessions Hatton made make it a less than stellar victory for the larger man. Especially in light of what Pac did to him. The guy just wasn't very good.
Hatton againsed Collazo was the alarm bells to Hattons 147 capability, Collazo punished him far more, just never managed the KO. De La Hoya, Hatton and Shane were all past their best, 100%, no argument. Corrales was a good fighter and so was Castillo (who beat Floyd 1st time around) and he gets props for beating these two good fighters. But that's it. Resume of greatness/Best of all time/All Time Great................???my ****ing arse:hi: Nowhere near
Too bad you can't vote for two different choices. Because I'd vote the first and the third. That's how much of a sham Floyd's career beyond lightweight has been.
Every single fight of Floyd's was handpicked to avoid the likes of the more dangerous fighters at their best. Look at who he fought and who he ducked. Cotto Casamayor Margarito Manny Williams Tszu
