In terms of skills and abilities. Meaning not accomplishments but in terms of who you think he could beat. top fighter something between top and mid lvl mid lvl btw mid and low low lvl
I think he's a decent striker but would get out done by class strikers like Silva and Shogun. His BJJ is underrated. He's big, strong and chinny. Weirdly enough, I don't think he gets clocked as much as you think. When he gets clocked clean, it's pretty much the end. He is herky jerky and if you time him, he is ****ed. I think he is a 50-50 fighter. He trains hard and wants to get better. If you are not complete, he can get you here or there i.e. beat Rampage on leg kicks and he beat Shogun on stamina. I don't think he's better then either but one limited himself as a fighter and the other wasn't trained well enough. Average Forrest exposed that single *****. His record really tells you what sort of fighter he is. He isn't an expert at anything. He's a well rounded guy who trains hard.
something between top and mid lvl IMO. He's gotten so much better over the last few years, but what you get in any one fight depends so much on what's going on in his head it seems. You hear the way he talks about the Evans fight ("All of a sudden I'm the champion? I'm not supposed to be the champion") and you wonder what the **** the point of him fighting big fights is if he can't take success. He had some of the best defense from strikes from the bottom I've ever seen against Shogun and then he just got lazy as hell when Evans was on top of him and got stopped. Same thing with the Silva debacle. Not so say that he's better than Evans or Silva, but he's certainly better than he looked in those fights.
A solid fighter who can beat almost anyone if he has a strong gameplan and sticks to it. The Evans fight shows what happens when he does this and when he doesn't. Underrated and overrated at the same time. He has a major weakness that keeps him from being considered a true top fighter (chin and little power), but can make up for it with conditioning, being big for his division and the fact that he's not afraid to lose. A 7 out of 10.
Let's see - he has wins over the current LHW champion and the man that many consider the runner up in the division Rampage. You have to rank him in the top five. Personally until those two fighters avenge their loss to Griffin I rank him rather highly. Perhaps #5 LHW.
Well he is top 10 thats for sure. In recent years hes split 1-1 with Tito Ortiz, choked out the Champion Shogun Rua and defeated the top contender and then Champion Rampage Jackson and he was dominanting Rashad Evans before the takedown and GNP in the 3rd. So cleary he can handle himself agianst high level oppostion. If you dont take him seriously he probablly will beat you with his well roundeness, conditioning and good gameplanning. Forrest will never be a long time Champion or even elite fighter IMO he just simply doesnt do anything great enough. Forrest can wrestle alittle, has really good Jiujitsu, decent boxing and some straight up violent leg kicks but he has no power, a weak chin, no GNP defense and is kinda slow so he has plenty of openinings. Im sure Forrest will beat another highly ranked fighter or 2 in his career but id bet my life he never wins the title agian.
