How do you rate Frank Bruno as a Heavyweight boxer?

I often come across posts on here ridiculing Bruno as a boxer. How do you rate Bruno - and how exiting to watch do you think he was?

It's a multi poll so you get to answer both questions - tick two boxes

i think he would of beat most of them now,all the europeans are even more robotic and stiff than bruno was.
IMO he was a pretty good heavyweght,in a pretty good heavyweight era, especialy compared to the HW of today

Good and exciting to watch. Top 3-5 guy and def. belt holder if he fought today.

"Know what I mean 'Arry" etc etc. Always remember predicting that Bonecrusher Smith would knock him out to my schoolmates and getting some plaudits in return. Those fights on Sportsnight were superb as was the music.

Why do you say he was diabolical. Your entitled to your opinion - not saying it's wrong or right - just asking a question?

Yep, it was a good time to be into boxing, you could go to school the next day and everyone had seen the whatever fight was on Sportsnight the night before. Domestic and Euro level fighters were bigger names than most of world champions these days.

You're right. They were such big names that I wrote to Jim'll Fix It asking to spar with Tony Sibson.

Fortunately it was never arranged as I'm sure a 9 year old boy would have probably got a complete pounding, and if I'd made it to the fight with Sibson not doubt that wouldn't have been good for the health either :-( .

Boxing used to be up there just behind football - sadly nowadays it is ever more becoming a minority sport.

I go onto some sights looking for the boxing icon but have to select other.

My mum used to follow boxing "The Big fight live" and all that jazz...

In a way pay per view has ruined boxing, my mum does not know half as much about boxing these days. The average joe does not watch and learn about the sport like they used to, because they have not got that opportunity.

Just imagine, if every big fight was on normal TV.....!

The smith fight wasnt a title fight though Smith did pick up a belt later.

Truth be known known - Bone Crusher Smith (who took prime Tyson to a UD) is only the real true black mark on his resume. That and perhaps losing a title fight to Witherspoon.

To me, Brunos best performance was his fight with lennox Lewis.

We all know what happened in the end, big Frank doing his usual robot impression when he got tagged clean.
However, until that moment, Bruno IMO was on the brink of beating Lennox Lewis. I havent see the fight in years, but my memory was Bruno bossing the fight with his jab, & Lennox getting lucky.

I would consider his loss to lewis as a greater performance than beating ****ed up Oliver McCall to actually win a belt.

Does that make sense? Well it does to me I suppose, thats why Im saying so!

Bruno was so close to beating arguably the best heavyweight fighter in history, its scary.
