hey u stole my sig. :yep

lol....lewis is the best. i call it 'bending the rules'

ive never been a bruno fan. yes he was outboxing lennox but lewis was green as hell. he looked like an amateur before manny got with him after mccall. his foot movement and jab really improved post-94. He seemed to straighten his punches out too.

bruno was a very strong dude who had very good power and a solid jab. but he was very robotic and had to fight at a slow pace due to his major stamina issues. he was just too muscular for that frame. i'd rate him between a good and average hw. pretty good. sometimes he was good, sometimes not.

he lacked consistency. he could have been a beltholder today but he'd lose it quickly. he was out on his feet against mccall late in the fight.

those who think he would be 'undisputed' today should log off and close their account immediately :yep

    Prime Lennox KO2 Bruno
    Vitali KO4 Bruno
    Wlad KO8 Bruno

    :good

    Yea sorry about that, I couldn't resist.:D

I've posted a few times (in the past) in various threads about the brutal punishment Bruno took at the end of that fight - his eyes are all over the place at the end when he is pulled out. Never seen a gif of part of it though till I saw your sig' - cheers.

no prob. indeed it was a wicked shot by lennox. he really measured that one.

...quite shrewd using that left hand as a range finder. im also quite fond of his headlocks :yep

Somewhere between average to good overall, maybe just swaying towards the latter. Bruno had tremendous physique, His jab albeit robotic, was very fine and gave alot of opponents trouble, plus he had fairly respectable power, but was a very limited fighter beyond that. His survival instincts were poor, durability not the best, and movement stiff: plus he rarely pieced together meaningful combinations well nor had a killer instinct once he had a fighter hurt. That spells pretty much disater against top level (or close) opponent.

Best performance was indeed the losing effort against Lewis. Although at that stage Lennox had some impressive wins under his belt, he was still raw around the edges. Any version of Bruno would get dealt with more comfortably by the Lewis of '96 onwards.

I've rated him at very good, bit of bias there as I think he's a legend! From a skils standing he had it all, decent jab, quick hands for his size and he could put an elephant to sleep. His problems were his chin and his stamina, which would often be the cause of him failing when he stepped up to the top level. He also reacts badly when hurt, but if memory serves me (which often isn't the case) I recall him having his way with Lennox before getting knocked out? As I said, it's been years and years since I last saw that fight, so my view is clouded, but I seem to remember Bruno out boxing him for long periods???

Even though Lennox Lewis was raw then, he was much more of a devastating brawler when he wanted to be, and he could still box..people forget how athletically gifted Lennox Lewis was, very agile and fast on his feet back in them days. In that fight against Frank Bruno he slowly turned the pace up through the fight....................

Manny Stewart refined the basic fundamentals in Lennox Lewis which made him a better fighter, but less exciting somtimes to watch. Because he was that good.
