How do you rate Froch's chances of beating Kessler?

kessler has a pretty good chin and i don't think that froch will stop him (dosen't mean i don't think he can't) unless its cuts. and as it is in denmark, the only way i think a decision will go is to kessler

I wonder how a loss would affect Froch one side of me says yes it would be a big hit because he is a confidence fighter hands down power through he probably is able to do that because he feels that air of invincibility about himself would he be able to do that after a loss? Then the other side of me is Froch is a hard man that gets on with the job would shake it off and carry on

Good analysis but Kessler is arguably more physically fresh than Carl Froch.

Kessler is younger and has actually taken less punishment in his career. Froch has been in tough fights with Jean Pascal and Jermain Taylor where he took quite a few hard shots.

    Just compare their faces.

Froch might be fresher mentally as he's undefeated

Not really. Kessler has had back issues which have plagued him for many years. He's hardly physically fresh.

Kessler has taken less punches than Carl Froch in his career. That's a fact.

Of course, this could count against him. I'm unsure how Kessler is going to react once he feels the heavy hands of Froch. Kessler has never fought a puncher like Froch. Kessler's chin is actually somewhat unproven.

Kessler will be hoping for the poetry in motion of Kessler - Andrade. Kessler looked better in that fight than Froch could ever dream of.

I doubt there is much in it. Kessler is not as defensively great as you might think. He never moves his head and his guard is not as tight as an Arthur Abraham. Mundine, Calzaghe and Ward all hit him fairly regularly. He's also had a much longer career with twice as many fights.

He's had back injuries and hand troubles, the back injuries inparticular have never been solved unlike Froch's knee which was operated on.

Your statement that he's physically fresh just isn't true.

I stated that Kessler might be physically fresher than Froch. Both are slightly shop worn. It's debatable who is the fresher of the two.

I actually think that the Jean Pascal might have taken something out of Froch. Let's face it, he's looked unconvincing against Taylor and Dirrell. He won both times, but only just.

Froch looked the same against Taylor and Dirrell as he did against Pascal really. He's just slow, thats the way he looks, awkward and slow. He looked more athletic earlier in his career if anything when he was a little leaner but its debateable he had the strength he does now. I think he's in his mental and physical prime, but it won't last long at this rate...

Kessler though has noticeably declined since his inactivity from the ring post-Calzaghe. I've got most of his career on disk and the last thing I'd put in his favour is freshness. He's lost speed, foot movement and the ability to pull the trigger as effectively. Andrade to his last couple of fights is like night and day.

Kessler is still faster than Froch and with better basic fundamentals. A decent defense for a start, although I acknowledge that Kessler is still hittable.

Good fight for Kessler, because if he cannot beat Froch (who is tailor made for Kessler at his best) then he knows he must hang them up.

This is a very tough fight to call. No-one really knows where Kessler is mentally after the Ward fight, there must be doubts though about whether he's still got it at the top level. Carl is still unbeaten and has fought Pascal, Taylor and Dirrell in his last 3 fights.

Kessler, although up against a good fighter in Ward, took a bit of a beating and was cut badly. My opinion on the outcome of this fight has changed dramatically over the past few months. Something just doesnt sit right with Kessler anymore, he looks faded to me and i think coming up against Froch could be an absolute nightmare for him later in the fight. Kessler needs to hurt Froch early on and get some confidence going.

The fight could honestly go either way, but to me, Kessler is the one who needs to up his game a lot from his last few outings.

Yep. Froch has the momentum and mental toughness which might just determine the outcome of this fight.

Kessler must prove that he is a superb warrior and fighter. The jury is out.
