No. After the Laing debacle Duran got serious and beat the crap out of Davey Moore. Then, he was highly competitive losing a close decision to Hagler. Nobody expected Duran to go out basically as easily as Pipino Cuevas had against Hearns. It was an absolutely dominate performance by Hearns. His massive physical advantages of course had a lot to do with it. But, still, the speed and power, combined with the freakishly long reach completely overwhelmed a helpless Duran. He didn't even see the last punch that dropped him on his face. The massively impressive performance by Hearns against Duran sent the hype for Hagler/;lHearns into overdrive. Hearns destroyed Duran whereas Hagler had somewhat struggled with him. Of course styles make fights and the natural MW Hagler easily absorbed Hearns best shots and had the physical strength to bully him into a quick KO loss. Duran's loss to Sims was two years after the Hearns fight and three years after the Hagler fight. The Duran that fought Hagler would have beaten Sims, who was a much degraded version of his half brother Hagler.
