How do you rate Hendo's win over Fedor?

I'm a huge Fedor fan. I'm Russian. Fedor was out.

With that said, Fedor hasn't had the kernel of badass in him for very long time. Fedor that fought Tim Sylvia was already not the same person. He got religious, calmed down, made a ton of money, now he can support his family. Investment in business, plus he built a huge sports center. He's set and he doesn't even need that much money to be content, which Dana White will never in his life understand. He hasn't had the same drive for a very long time now.

Fedor did appear to relax for a half second or so. If you take moment to time how long Fedor is not moving I don't think it is much more then a half second. Just because someone is not moving for that amount of time does not mean they are out cold.

I think someone that shows himself to be able to take punishment and come back should be given a chance, so I think it was a bad stoppage. That said being a MMA ref is no easy job.

Sometimes if you want to break free of a hold that is exactly what your suppose to do. You let your body relax and then explode into your escape. This gives you more power plus your opponent can not real get ready for what your going to do.

That's a (short-sighted) fan talking though. A referee cannot think like this, it would be against the principles of his job if he allowed a defenceless guy to eat more punches because he'd saw a video of him coming back against such an attack years earlier on video. This is teenage bull**** getting spoke on this thread man.

I am 36 years old so this is not teenage stuff. Maybe you don't understand what I am trying to say, maybe you are wrong.

Why is that always so hard....

Size didn't had anything to do the first round. Size didn't had anything to do with the TD and size didn't had anything to do with a sloppy performance.

Size didn't had anything to do against Cormier...it's not a size problem, it's a performance problem.

If you wanna think that Fedor lost because Silva is bigger then him it's your problem not mine ! :good

Good stoppage and a good win for Hendo.

That power is his only shot against Jones. He is outmatched in every other way save experience.

Actually, his chin is probably a lot better as well.

    Yawn. This is just dumb.

You yourself said size did not have ANYTHING to do with Bigfoot's win over Fedor.... then said 1 line later that it was because Silva was 300lbs that meant Fedor couldn't get out from under him.

If you don't see the contradiction there, I can't really help you. Obviously in a fight where the critical period was spent grappling/ground fighting, a 300lbs man has a serious advantage over a 230lbs man.

Nowhere did I say the defeat was purely and solely down to size - nowhere did I say this. But to state that size did not have ANYTHING to do with how the fight transpired is illogical to the point of downright ridiculous. You're denying reality, effectively.

It was 100% the right call, and that's coming from a Fedor fan. All the points you've made on this thread have been very silly indeed. I don't think you know the sport very well.

Ok, maybe not anything to do, but the fight was lost well before it got to the ground IMO !

Refs typically stop fights when they see a fighter go limp. Now he went limp but was he out? The fight was stopped as he was turning to face Hendo and he was taking punches. I've seen stoppages where the ref waits until the fighter is completely laid out and not moving. They need to be consistent with their decisions.

That was just a bad position for Fedor to be in and Hendo's reputation of knocking people out helped his cause.

I'd say had Fedor still have that 0, Hendo's win would make him a G.

It's still a quality win. Look at his peers. Werdum, Silva. All highly regarded heavyweights.

I have been around the sport since its infancy. I still remember renting the first ultimite fighter tapes with my friend it was pretty cool way back then it reminded me of the movie blood sport. I have forgotten more about fighting then most people will ever know.

You've definitely forgotten how refereeing works, and when it's appropriate to stop a fight. :smoke
