Should HBO sign him up and replace Roy Jones Jr? Or have both RJJ and Hopkins and get rid of Kellerman?

    :DD:

    Didn't hear the HBO commentary.

    Two questions :

What did BHop think about the stoppage ?

And what did idiot Max call him ?

Hopkins was good but he fumbled his words every now and then. I prefer him over Jones though.

I think Hopkins delivers a deeper and better explained knowledge of the sport than Roy, not that Roy's bad, Hopkins just better. What it comes to down is who will be less biased and history shows that Hopkins will be far more biased sooo....

Hopkins was far from biased. He called the Cunningham-Glascov right down the middle even though Steve was a Philly fighter & was trained by Nazim Richardson Nard's own trainer. Though why Nard has him I have no idea.
Bernard beats Roy hands down Nard isn't a egotist like Roy & Max

Hop is more articulate, more observant and not as self-serving ego driven as RJJ. I pick him over Jones easily.

I thought BHop did an excellent job.

Chances are BHop replaces Ward not Roy though.

In any event I wouldnt mind BHop calling HBO fights going forward in the slightest, not that I dislike Ward or Roy I like them both.

I didn't hear the commentary but if this is true then b-hop would make a good commentator. I hate biased commentators.

Funny in the prefight exposition when Lampley informed us that Hopkins fought everybody around the ring except the referee.

They're both great. Just that RJ, like Chavez Sr, tend to get drawn into good fights sometimes, get excited because they are also great fans, and draw more excitement to a fight, but make no mistake, they call it as it is. Bhops tho is a walking bible of boxing, I've never really heard him argue with a fellow commentator just because he disagrees with him or is trying to correct him, RJ will speak his mind and let you know lol. But to tell the truth, sometimes fellow non boxer commentators do need to be corrected, that's why they have the legends there for their feedback. IMO you can't go wrong with either Hopkins or Jones, it's great that they can still speak to where you may understand them, it's becoming a luxury for a boxer just to be able to do that after they retire.

Hopkins wasn't very good. Jim Lampley had to carry him through the job prompting him to make basic remarks. Then Hopkins would say something very basic about the replay like "He hit him with a left hook, and then a jab." When Roy Jones commentates it's more natural, like he's conversing with Lampley and Kellerman. The commentary flows better and doesn't feel as forced. I was also really surprised that Bernard didn't have anything interesting to say about Kovalev and Pascal since he'd fought both men.

I will say one nice thing about Hopkins though. He wasn't slurring his words. PBC with Tommy Hearns the other night made me sad.

I honestly thought Hopkins did a great job commentating. He did fumble a few times with his words but other then that he did a great job. He was very honest.
