Twenty middleweight title defences against the likes of Antwun Echols,Glen Johnson,William Joppy,Howard Eastman,Felix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya.Plus his impressive wins against Tarver, wright and his competitive effort against Joe Calzaghe.I reckon he is top forty ATG
Top 40 my ass. His middleweight reign was not superior to Joe Calzaghe's in truth. He fought some awful dross in there, including Allen 58 times. He has De La Hoya and more importantly Trinidad, but you can always question whether he's actually beaten a prime top class career middleweight and he let the Taylor fight be closer than it should have been even though he deserved the decision. His LHW wins add a huge amount to his legacy which tells you he didn't belong in the top 40 when one is against another old man that was too busy in Hollywood and then Wright well above his peak weight
you can't say he is not top 100.Anyone who has beaten four elite fighters and a pack of good solid fighters is an atg.He is more worthy than than Morales and Barrera in my opinion
Top 40 or 50 more likely. Hopkins reign overall was not much worse than Hagler's, his success well past his prime and wins above middleweight, how dominant he was for a decade, and how highly he rates in his prime H2H as he was a complete fighter earns him a palce inside the top 50. I seriously doubt someone can name 100 fighters greater than Hopkins.
I honestly thought it was pointless to put in the option of outside the top 100.If you think hopkins is not atg just tick the last one as he said.
Well, top 125, anyway. His defenses against Robert Allen and Morrade Hakkar and his losses to Taylor and Calzaghe, and soon, Pavlik will ensure his spot!:good
