A good Cruiserweight champ. Too old, too slow and too small for Saturdays assignment though. Kinda like Qawi when he fought Foreman.
His stock seemed to grow greatly after Haye beat him. A tough champ though, but not a quality HW at any age, least of all now.
He was a very good Cruiserweight a few years ago but he ha no business fighting for even an alphabet heavyweight belt, never mind the actual Heavyweight title.
He was a good cruiserweight champ & is a bad heavweight challenger, a toothless old lion for Wlad to paw at for while. He'll turn in up in shape & last 9 or 10 rounds without collapsing His 2 fights with Bell are both worth a watch.
IIRC it was Bell who was the man in the division, Mormeck lost to him and it was looking like Haye would have to face him but Mormeck won the rematch which shocked a fair few and then Haye did a job on Mormeck.
He was a bit like Tyson where his peak lasted for a few months, which is ironic with Rooney in his corner. I believe his peak months were around the 8/11/2007 until about the 8/12/2007, after that he was utter ****.
He was a decent fighter but your going back at least 4 years and in a different division, I don't want to be too harsh but he's cannon fodder for Wlad on Saturday.
