True, before the Linares fight he was something like +20, which is the highest we've seen since Mayweather's +24 a few years ago. It might just be true that there's no defense like a good offense. Of course, against Linares I think he was only +4 percent? So it might have gone down, like Mayweather's did after Maidana.

Dude, Pacquiao has always been known for being an offensive monster. I can't remember a fighter with whom so many fighters have worked solely in training camps to deal with that straight left.

From 2004 - 2015, Pacquiao's straight left was the best punch in boxing.

No doubt. I'm not disrespecting Pac's offensive style at all. I'm just pointing out the fact that he was pressured to perform the same way he fought in 2009 in 2012 and it went wrong for him.
If Lomachenko falls for that he can suffer the same fate.

It's very good, but I wouldn't put him up there with the likes of Mayweather, Whitaker, Pep etc.

His offence is a big part of his defence, he shuts down much of his opponents offence with his own offence. We saw vs Salido when under consistence pressure and being forced to fight more defensively he is more vulnerable to being hit.

His defence has a lot to do with positioning but he can't do what Whitaker and Mayweather did and be in bad positions and still be next to unhittable. You could have Whitaker or Mayweather backed up on the ropes or in a corner and they could still slip and block shots very effectively, while Loma needs that space to move and spin his opponent to remain elusive.

But as I said his defence is very good, he's definitely the best defensive fighter for me right now.

The best defensive fighter ever. Never have we seen such an aggressive fighter get hit so little. He gets hit as often as Floyd, yet he isn't a safety first, one punch potshot sort of fighter. It's incredible, and the best part of his game. I've always been a big fan of defensive fighters (Toney, Whitaker) but Lomachenko takes it to the next level. We've never seen anyone like him before.

Willie Pep had one hell of a defense!!! If Lomachenko wanted to play defense an opponent could never land a glove on him, but he takes chances and now he will be even better in his next fight as he learned a lot. Lomachenko learns for every fight and esp. the fight with Linares in which he made a few mistakes against fighter who was much bigger, stronger, and had very long arms, longer arms than Mikey even...............

Out of active fighters (which I don't include Rigo in), he's got the best defense, I'd rate it as 9/10. For the way in which he fights, being an offensively minded fighter, his defense becomes even more impressive. However, I think he can be a bit open to the body.

Compared to defensive wizards of the past though, I don't think he's on that level, not sure he can be given his style either though.

Just a reminder that Floyd who is considered one of the best defensive boxers of all time got dropped too, and ffs he was getting lit up vs Mcgregor.

Who dropped Floyd? I remember once his glove scraped the canvas and was given a standing 8.

If you state McG, interesting considering Floyd himself said he wasn't the same fighter, 20 years from his debut. IMO no one should be rated on offense/defense by looking at their last several fights.
But I admit, I see that fight similar to his romp with Corley. Demarcus hit him a lot because Floyd chose a style we beg to see him use, then when he finally does we rag him for doing it (he got hit alot)

    A+

His defense is f&^% amazing, better than his offense.
You're all forgetting he is one of the most offensive fighters in boxing and has the best defensive stats in boxing, his reflexes are 2nd to none, footwork 2nd to none, if he wanted to he could turn into a passive counter puncher and take 10 punches a fight.
He often fights inside and very rarely gets punches, his output of punches is the highest in boxing and the fact that he gets hit so little says volumes, also vs Linares he blocked most of his punches but the mix of Lomas reflexes and Linares speed made it seem like a lot of punches which were blocked actually hit loma

Lacks reach for that. His style is honed for his physique.
