how do you rate Michael Spinks?

Spinks would get knocked out Vs. Vlad, no doubt about it. He would lose to Ibragimov, Chagaev, Valoeuv, Povetkin, etc., he was a good light heavyweight but not so good heavyweight. Bob Foster was much better.

 

I think he might be able to get a hold of one of the belts.

But Wlad would be too much for him.

 

Spinks did not have a heavyweight frame. I thought Holmes beat him.

 

he beats Povetkin and Chagaev easy there crap, It think the rest beat him.

There is no question that Michael Spinks, at heavyweight, was better than Bob Foster at heavyweight.

Wladimir stops Spinks, but Peter, Maskaev, Chagaev, Ibragimov, Povetkin, and Valuev all lose to him in my opinion. Some of those would be close/competitive fights though.

 

Perhaps Peter would lose because he can't box, but Spinks was not strong enough at heavyweight.

 

Spinks was a great LHW, very good technically, lacked size, power, and aggression to be an effective HW.

 

yes, very true. It is so obvious to those who have seen his fights.

 

Spinks was a great Light Heavy but he lived off his past fame during his stay with the heavy weights. He didn't fight too much as a heavy weight and shouldn't get too much recognition there in my view ...

 

Spinks outclasses most of them. Maybe he would have problems with the height and reach of Wladimir but he's a far classier and better boxer. My post is not open for debate either. Cheers.

One of the worst posts I've seen all day.

Not a very good Heavyweight, yet he outboxed Holmes? Foster was much better yet he lost to every single top notch Heavyweight(and some much lesser Heavies) he ever fought? Spinks did better at both Light Heavyweight in terms of resume and Heavyweight than Foster did.

Also, aside from Wlad, he likely beats everyone above that you mentioned.

 

actually thats pretty debatable as to who has the better 175 resume. Sure qawi and eddie are better than prolly every foster opponent. But after that his light heavyweight resume kinda gets thin with wins over older versions of lopez and johnson.

Foster at that weight beat past prime dick tiger, eddie cotton, henry hank, fourie, rondon, finnegan, quarry and allen thomas.

Eddie mustafa, qawi, yaqui and marvin were all solid, but thats about it. The other guys really werent that good and they just became ranked cuz they had like 1 or 2 good wins. Foster beat about 8 solid fighters at that weight, spinks beat 4.

Foster completely cleaned his division, spinks didnt fight guys like koopmans, mwale, willie edwards and they were all at one point or another top 3 during spinks reign.
