A "Peak" Tyson was imo a top 10 ATG!! Imagine him fighting EVERY other great heavyweight! Just how many do you honestly believe beat him? A peak Ali? Yes! A peak Foreman? A peak Holmes? A peak Louis? A peak Johnson? A peak Liston? A peak Frazier? A peak Lewis? I know I have left some greats out (I left out Marciano, and Dempsey because those great fighters were quite simply too small) but you get my point. He would have been a "50/50" opponent for almost all those guys!! How about A peak Klitschko? Probably not the best time to ask such a question, after tonights decidedly low-key defence but a peak Vitali is also worthy of consideration at least (And i'm not a big Vitali fan).

Id rate him about the 15th all time Heavyweight... Lewis, Holyfield, Marciano, Liston, Frazier, Johnson,,Holmes, Dempsey, Foreman, Louis and of course, Ali i would all rate higher than Tyson.. Hard to rate a man that high that in his prime got waxed by a 42-1 dog :-(..
Very high :deal In his prime he had the best.... Body movement, evasion, timing, power in both hands and his speed was huge for a HW. PPV ratings and general hype were huge and his record speaks for itself. If he could have kept out of trouble how much better could he have gone????
Mike Tyson was a force of nature. As much as I don't want to say it, but I can't even see Ali beating a prime Tyson. And even if he did? They both would be carried out. Watching young (Cus era) Tyson train gives you goosebumps. How did ANY man get in there expecting to win?
I can't favor any HW over him in his (short) prime. It baffles me when people rate Lewis ahead of him, wtf
Im a Tyson fan but Prime for Prime Ali would easily beat Tyson..but Ali would have to be very careful for the first 5-6 rounds to make sure he doesnt get caught with something huge and even if he does,it doesnt mean Tyson would KO him,ali is known for having a very great Chin But Tyson has never fought anybody close to the speed of a Muhammed Ali,and I see that being a big factor..Ali wins a wide UD in my opinion
I am a fan of both. Every part of me says prime Ali could win, still though prime Mike? Wow. However even at his best Tyson used to gas. People do tend forget that.
For the record, I voted him as a Mid-Level ATG which is still a very high rank. If he had stayed out of trouble, and fought a longer successful career and beaten Holyfield and Bowe then I would rank him higher. If he just beat Lewis once, I would automatically rank him higher.
High level ATG easily. Is there ANYONE that hit the boxing scene the way Tyson did in HIS style?. I know Ali had his style, Leonard, Hagler, Hearns and other but NONE similar to the attention, talk and excitement Tyson brought. They are all in the same category of course but to each his own unique image.
I put Mid-Level because i followed his whole career and because of his dumb decisions in life i feel he never truly lived up to the true potential that he could have. One can only imagine of his outside life hadnt interfered with his career decisions and he stayed with Kevin, and Cayton, how great he might have really become....the name Douglas might have been non-exsistent today had things been different.
