How do you rate Ricky Hatton inside the ring as a professional boxer?

    i rated him 7 with the thought of comparing him to fighters of other eras overall perhaps and 7 at his best

    I would have him as 8, for reasons already stated.

    That said, for me he is a sure Hall of Famer - not just for his abilities in the ring. Let's face it, when Lennox Lewis retired (probably before that as well) British boxing was dead in the water. Calzaghe was making endless meaningless defences of a WBO title, whilst Hatton was making the game popular again amongst the mainstream - which would have seemed very unlikely four years ago.

    Im glad somebody else has recoginised his footwork :good

    When i was arguing with the Witter fans they where saying how Hatton wouldnt get close. But as i said if you can close down Mayweather you can sure as hell close down Witter.

    The footwork was one thing I missed, which is first class. He didn't get the angles going against Mayweather, meaning the screw shots weren't firing and the body shots lacked power.

    He did get them going against Lazcano, but each time Juan looked ready to go the elbow came down just in time.
