I see a few people getting pent up over the Manny/Hatton fight and even talk that one fighter is ducking the other. This seems to have come from the latest developments regarding the purse. I have to say, I see all this as a simple negotiation tactic on behalf of both camps to get a higher % for their man. I dont doubt the fight will happen. However, I have seen talk that this is a lose-lose for Pacquiao. Hatton has been labelled a sub-elite fighter. What's your thoughts? Would it not also be fair to say that this is lose-lose for Hatton too? If he wins will people not just blame the weight? Anyways, cast your votes. To dispell anykind of ambiguity over interpretation I have included an example of a boxer I feel falls into each category (please dont argue these examples, just answer the question in the poll). Thanks P4P Elite eg Mayweather/Pacquiao/Calzaghe Elite eg Margarito/Paul Williams/Cotto World level eg David Haye/Mikkel Kessler/Chad Dawson Continental Level eg Carl Froch/Arreola/Katsidis Domestic Level eg Amir Khan Journeyman eg Audley Harrison Tomato Can eg Charlie Zelenoff
Well going on how you have summed each category up, I would go with Hatton being an Elite level fighter.
He's elite imo and cannot and should not be considered anything less. There's nothing wrong with totally dominating your weight class, Hopkins, Jones, Calzaghe, Hagler and other did this and they are all ATG's. Hatton might not go that way due to level of competition not being 'American' enough, but so what, he's the 140lb recognised champ and has beaten anyone worth a damn in that division.... how can he be anything less than elite being by far and away the best in his weight?
