How do you rate Ross Purity's career, and are there any throwback fighters you can compare him to

Seems like he fought every top contender of his era when they were on their way up but never got a shot at a legit title...

I don't remember seeing too many of his fights on TV when he was active, but I see his name on so many records of other fighters

Eddie Blunt and Zack Page are examples that fought a ton of top contenders, but never got anywhere near a title shot.

Ross was thrown in the deep end and had to basically learn on the fly. If he'd had a proper top flight coach and some money behind him like some of the other guys around I believe he could have been something special that we'd talk about together with Holyfield and company. He was seriously tough and massively strong. I mean he took seven shades of hell from Wlad and basically gassed him out with his chin. Its just that he wasn't particularly fast and he didn't have a particularly special technique. That allowed better boxers to outbox him ad lib.

Ross was a very strong, very tough guy. But, he lacked the speed and skill to ever be a major contender. At least not in the era in which he competed. Not sure he even cracked the top 20, much less top 10.

Were he to compete today, he is certainly more formidible than several of Wilder's challengers.

The only reason you are talking up Purrity is that he caved in your daddy WK............Ross is a walking heavybag with a chin similar to Lamon Brewster who did a also a number on glass chinned WK.............both are mediocred skilled at best and that is being generous.

Tommy Chin, not known to be of the sturdiest whiskers beat Purrity to a stand still despite two knock downs while your daddy WK simply went home to Mommy.

The only reason that you are replying to this is because you have a giant hernia about Wlad and get acid reflux whenever he is mentioned. Other than that my post is exactly your post, minus the whiny butthurt hyperbole.
