As fans we should value the skill opposed to the brutality part especially when seeing what happens to fighters who continuously go through these wars. Its still a combat sport so fighters involved will suffer something but we wish they can keep their health intact enough to enjoy their lives post-fighting. Some can do no other thing well but fight to maintain financial stability so they take even more punishment which is a shame.

i do...darchinyan-burgos i was screaming at the TV for them to stop the **** before the inevitable happened (which did:bart)...katsidis-amonsot was brutal as **** but they were both in the fight from start to finish..it wasn't one-sided..just a typical katsidis fight..czar was able to comeback and is still an active fighter..a better example would be campbell-quiles...that was just as bad as darchinyan-burgos...teddy atlas and most of the crowd were having fits about stopping that fight..how it wasn't stopped ill never know..how quiles lasted the distance and escaped sharing the same fate as burgos or worse is also beyond reasoning..but quiles never fought again after that

Oh yeah, Ricky Quiles - he had years shaved off his life. Excellent call.

I stand by Amonsot, though - even if he made a show of staying competitive, it was too much punishment by far.

If anyone can get a hold of Shannon and Botha's fight back in the day it was ****ing fantastic. Botha weary, nearly knocking Briggs' ear right off his head in the last round, Briggs bombing away. What fun :bbb

Briggs had a damned good beard on him. Doesn't get the props he should for it.

for some of his size and punch i still feel shannon should have accomplished more as a fighter even though he actually won a heavyweight belt

shannon was pretty sturdy in his whiskers..only lewis, wilson, and mccline were able to knock him down..and lewis and wilson were able to stop him..in the case of wilson knocking him out wasn't he having an asthmatic episode during that fight too? the vitali fight made me cringe though..it was a bad beating he took...no one gave a **** about shannon that night..hell shannon didn't give a **** about shannon lol..it was a miracle he didn't die in the ring that night...there's nothing great about a chin if you're getting slaughtered like he was:bart

On October 16, 2010 Briggs fought in a WBC title challenge against Vitali Klitschko in the O2 World at Hamburg. His entrance music for the fight was performed by DJ Structure the Spin Dr.[2][3] During the fight Briggs took a severe beating and, after the fight, went down in his quarters. Brought to a hospital Briggs was initially treated in intensive care and found to have suffered a left orbital fracture, a broken nose, and a torn left biceps.[4] In addition, he had another facial fracture above the right eye and a burst ear drum.

I would say so... He took a hell of a beating from Vitali... that fight should have been stopped.

After the Hiding he got from Vitali and considering he was 42 or something, I'd say very good.

Shannon's stamina was really bad, but he took a very good shot. Definitely had a solid chin.

Damn , I never got to see that fight and that highlight reel made me cringe.

What exactly was Briggs doing in that fight that warranted his corner or the ref to not stop it?

I am all for letting a fight go especially if one guy is known for lighning in a bottle power but damn that was brutal. But like I said I didnt see the fight, maybe he was landing the odd shot here and there?

At the time everyone was quitting against Vitaly and Briggs tried to make a statement. He told his corner not to stop the fight no matter what.
Briggs didn't land anything, he just didn't want to quit. The most ****ed up thing is that Briggs' management robbed him and he didn't even get paid for the fight.
