A trainer is ultimately judged by results, how many world champions does he have under his wings and whether fighters are lining up to get trained by him. Freddie Roach has that but Teddy Atlas doesn't.

Teddy has one glaring fault ? He is too HONEST!! He tells it how it is. When a fighters been blatantly robbed Teddy would call it what it was ,a blatant robbery, & name the judges. Sure he went overboard a time or two, BUT what he said about the blatant corruption in the sport was mostly accurate & the truth. Thats why he was ousted the
corrupt parties were nervous he knew too much.
When you look at who replaced him , that clown Kreigal, he knows nothing about the sport & has about as much charisma as a sloth Tie that to Bug Eyes Max Kellerman you have a losing team I say Bring Back Teddy

Teddy is a pain in the ass who’s always preaching and trying to tell people how to live there lives. He lives off of what Cus accomplished and created and he’s bitter that he never was a successful fighter. He only reiterated what Cus had taught Mike Tyson when cus wasn’t in the room, cus was the one who trained Mike not Teddy, after cus fired him he had Kevin Rooney training him and Kevin had Mike when Mike was peak after Cus passed.... when I think of great trainers i think of Futch, Steward, Blackburn, Goldman, etc etc.... guys who brought champions up from kids to the top of the mountain.

He's too emotional. he relies on his emotions to get to his fighters, always making dumb analogies, trying to make them think of their past adversity etc... don't get me wrong, he's a great commentator, analyst, and story-teller, but that doesn't translate well to training fighters. You wanna be cold, calculated and emotionless when u get in that ring.

It seems to me that Teddy learned how to corner by watching movies. So dramatic, always seems to be playing to the camera.

    A specialist with motivating fighters.

Specialist as in a Manny Steward whose specialty IMO was polishing tall fighters-using reach. Manny couldn't help anyone outside those dimensions (think Kermit Cintron, Jermaine Taylor)
Same with Atlas. The fighter who needs to be psyched out or motivated could use him.
